In 2019 or 2020 the 2.0T will replace the 3.6 as the base engine, mark ma words.
This is my thought, too. They'll tweak and refine, probably squeeze a little more out of it, and when it has settled as a good, reliable stock engine, they'll let the Pentastar, go. The question is, will they bring the manual over to the 2L or kill it as well?

We're in that awkward age where all engines kinda suck and are over complicated but it's too expensive to go full EV for everything.

If they had made it available with the 6MT I would be considering it because of the loss in power in a naturally aspirated engine here in Colorado at altitude.

One word, Diesel...

That is why we have it in all the Wranglers
European cities have started to ban diesels. Hope there is enough demand in the US to justify continued production.

Complicated? For sure! Suck? Maybe, we seem to be in a horsepower/TQ utopia right now. Electric Teslas that can do 0-60 in under 2 seconds, Hellcat Chargers and Challengers (not to mention JGCs), 2.0 turbos that put out well over 300 horsepower and get 30 MPG highway. Who would have thought 10 years ago that Kia would be making a RWD sedan with a 365HP 3.3L twin turbo six? My 1995 Mustang GT made 215 HP, a 2018 GT makes 460. And the new GT gets the same mileage, but more than double the HP.

It's a good time to be alive, although since I live in CA the socialist government will probably outlaw gas engines in the next few years and I'll have to move.

Nah, they'll just impose pollution regulations, so you can breathe the air.

It is taking place just like push to EV but so far it’s only one city in the entire Europe that bend diesel. Trust me when I say we have more diesel vehicles in Germany alone then in all USA. This is not a problem for us until the Jeep next redesign.

You’re dead on but as a Tesla owner I’d pay plenty for a full on EV wrangler that can dust a hellcat

For a Wrangler to actually pull off 10 second quarter miles it would need an adjustable suspension and high performance tires. I think Wranglers mostly need big time range and battery to accommodate all their accessories on a long trip.

Yep. Take the brakes and suspension from the GC SRT8 / Trackhawk and you’d have it. Combine that with a YJ Wrangler Renegade like body kit and it would sell. I’d give up rock climbing abilities for performance.

The solid axles would probably make it want to become unstable with all the power too. I'd just like a cheap EV Wrangler that can do a 13 second 1/4 mile. I'm sort of out of the market for a Jeep I think. They look cool but would be like a 3rd or 4th vehicle option for me.

I'm looking to replace the Baja and the Model S with a single EV SUV/truck. Hoping the Tesla truck blows me away, or maaaaybe a used Model X. I think Model X's are a bit boring and over priced but I do like the windshield.

I have both a model S and X. The P100D X is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. Faster than a super car, falcon doors are cool, room for 6 comfortably and two trunks to boot. Only thing it isn’t is convertible. Once you go electric it’s hard to go back. Gas vehicles just seem so sluggish in comparison. Even my fast ones. A simple EV wrangler for the masses would definitely sell and could easily be a quick sub mid fours 0-60 and with a range of 200+ miles they could easily sell for $60k. With the $7500 EV credit it would be the same price as my loaded inbound JL Rubicon.

The Model X is probably fine. I just think it looks a bit boring and feminine.

Fiat is pretty far behind the competition in the EV world. They’re going to be focusing on their mild hybrid tech for the time being.

I think the Tesla truck in 2021ish will be the first real truck/off-road EV.

I’ve only had my Model S for a year so I’m just being patient but I do kinda want an all-in-one SUV/truck.

Fiat might surprise us with a legit battery for their plug in hybrid but it’ll likely be just like the Pacifica.
