I'm trying to track down what the dealership is supposed to do for the 10k mile service that is included for free.

It's easy enough to look in the manual what's supposed to be done but I don't know where in my paperwork or where online it says what is part of the warranty.

Bit of background, I scheduled my appointment for the 10k service and told them multiple times it was a diesel. I go to my appointment a few days later (again reiterating that it's a diesel), they take it back and a half hour in they tell me they didn't realize it was a diesel so they need to order the filter. They changed the oil and rotated the tires and said to come back for the filter replacement in a few days. They didn't touch anything else or fill the DEF. I just want to make sure when I go back everything is done properly since they already showed their incompetence.

10k service? Boy, that dealer really likes to stretch it out. Manual says that 10k is the absolute maximum and should never be passed. It's a good idea to do service every 8k or less depending on driving conditions.

Anyhow, the first one is simply oil, oil filter, and basic visual inspection.

The second service adds the fuel filter also.

I had a separate book other than the user manual that was for the Diesel that had the maintenance schedule in it.

They dumped the oil and did not change the filter?? WTF...so now you have new oil and an old filter with the old oil mixing along with the new...This place sounds like a bunch of shortcut hacks. IIR, the filter is the same as the 1500 Ram EcoDiesel anyway, and those things are as common as a stick.

As soon as they said they did not have the parts you should'a hit the road. As was also said, 10k on the oil seems to be a bit of a stretch IMO. 5k to 8k is much more the norm although some folks with nothing better to do change at 3k.

Yeah they didn't say anything about the part until the oil was already changed. I wasn't happy about it but it's not the end of the world. I wont being going there again. As far as doing the oil at 10k miles, there seems to be a ton of different opinions on that. Right or wrong, I've always just gone with what the manual says.
