I'd probably use it for Jeep trips. Moab, Arizona, the Rubicon trail, maybe Alaska?

How do you use your Jeep?

No point spending on stuff you won't use and just weight you down.

I am starting to become a "less is more" as the reality is with every mod comes downsides and tradeoffs as well..... So it comes down to if you make use of Jeep in such a way that those tradeoffs make sense.

I've been considering getting a winch and not knowing anything about it, I have been watching a lot of YouTube videos. It's crazy how many people are calling them wenches in their videos.
I remember when I first watched Dirt Every Day (years ago) and Fred Williams said if you are going to go off-roading, the first item you should buy for a Jeep is a winch. Several years passed and I got my first Jeep for pleasure, not work, and the very first items I got were a winch plate, a Warn Zeon 12S winch and ARB spot lights. And I have yet to use the winch. Now here is the mind twister. Had I not purchased it, I wonder how many times I would have needed it and not had it. Likewise, like you I too have watched several videos on how to use them. And for myself, I hope I never have to.

So true! The only times I would have needed mine were in my YJ before I bought one. I had a come-a-long hand winch that I used several times. I put a Warn M8000 on that little YJ and my getting stuck days were over. I've only used my winches to pull other Jeeps (many times) or pull stumps out.

ARB lockers front and rear including on board compressor.
Fox shocks for rubicon height.
Smittybuilt 9.5K synthetic gen 3 winch.
33KO2s and better looking wheels.

If I have any money left, maybe a bestop trektop soft top and give the rest to another jeep owner.

Mammoth 8 Beadlock Wheels, 2.5" lift, 35x12.5 KM3s, ARB Air locker. That takes me up to 4 grand!

I already have a Winch and TrekTop, so I might look into re-gearing with what's leftover after the Air Locker incidentals are taken care of.
