Wrangler buyers seem to be so passionate about their Jeeps they are willing to go great lengths to get what they are looking for. I thought it would be fun to hear about those experiences. I’ll go first.

For my wife’s #0 birthday I wanted to get her something special. The loves her current ‘06 yellow 6-sp manual LJ. She loves the new punk’n orange. I wanted to get her a Rubicon with a V6 auto. Well... none were available. Not even close to what she wanted. I found a 2019 JLUR in Albany, OR. Just what she wanted. The only drawback was that it is over 2,500 miles away. So, 3 flights, a bus ride, and 16 hours later I picked it up.
Now I have about 45 hours of drive time, 2,500+ miles plus a little local sightseeing, and 2 countries to go before I can park it in the garage. This is defiantly worth it. Now if I can convince my wife she doesn’t need to keep her TJ “for when the boys get old enoug.” I doubt I’ll win that one.

Emptied every pocket, broke all my piggy banks, cleaned out under all the couch cushions, so I wouldn’t have a monthly payment. Now I have to borrow money for my mods.

Read, research & look at dealer inventories for a few months looking for this: 2D 3.6 '19 Rubicon 6MT PST Stingray. Find a '18 base sport on a sad looking dealer lot, drive 3 hours to see it, nearly pull the trigger, decide against.

Get the Rubicon quote, commit to buy, get up at 3:30 ON A SUNDAY to be on a plane to Baltimore, then take Amtrack & Uber to get to a dealership at the pre-arranged time (open time on Sunday morning), to find out ... they had no idea about any of this and my salesman was nowhere to be found !

Get the deal I was quoted though and get out of there by 2:30 p.m. Never see the salesman I dealt with show up at all, ha. Hope he got stuffed on the commission.

Drove home, had an awesome trip exploring backroads.

Lesson: Could have just ordered one and avoided the drama. Ha.

Well now I feel like i somehow cheated. Ordered 10/22/18 and picked it up 11/28/18. Just had to wait 37 days and pick it up 6 blocks from my house.

I feel like I cheated also. I ordered. Waited a whole 14 days from ordering to delivery to dealer. I had to travel 50 minutes on a train to dealer though. lol. Herd someone else ordered and was delivered to dealer in 11 days! Unreal! lol.

That's crazy fast! Probably depends on timing (I ordered before production started). I suppose if ordered at a slower time and near assembly plant then it's not a shock.

Flexibility is the key to fun vs frustration. I would have loved a day like that.

I cheated , I work at dealership, so I sat down with a sales manager put in the options I wanted ... then picked from there , they called the dealer and bought it.. sent a driver to get it and signed once it arrived

First stop on the adventure home. Starting tomorrow I doubt I’ll have as much time for sightseeing.
