Badland 12k and took off the cable and went synthetic. Have not used it since the switch. Worked great with cable pulling bushes and stumps. So far no rescues (me or helping someone)

I have had a lot of winches, and I have a lot of winches.

Warn Zeon Platinum series are nice. Fast, but not too fast. Has a remote clutch, which is nice, but makes it a huge winch. This is my favorite.

Warn VR EVO series are a decent value. They are easy to remote mount the control box. You can buy additional wireless remotes. I have one on my YJ.

I have a new 8274. It's so fast it's scary. Packaging is a PITA and it's heavy.

Badlands Apex LMNOP are excellent value when on super sale, but their dependability has been sketchy for me. Mine are all on tractor or trailer duty now. After having one not hold when stopped, I don't trust any of them. I have one of their Warn Axon ripoffs and it's almost as good as my Axon 55. I have the Axon 55 on the back of my YJ.

I have other winches, but haven't bought them in the last 5 years so I don't know if they count. The pandemic and trade war ruined everything.

Next up on the mods list is a winch

Narrowed it down to the HF Badlands 12k synthetic winch as I don't hardcore wheel but saw some posts saying it's big and heavy especially for the 2 doors

Anyone thoughts on the badlands winch? Better alternatives at similar price point?
I have the Badlands ZXR 12000 with remote, and I specifically decided on classic wire rope rather than synthetic. I put together a rather complete recovery kit with shackles, blocks, and pulleys and chokers. On occasion I throw in the old high lift jack. I would rather have and not need than need and not have.

I have the Quadratec one, I think this is the new version - https://www.quadratec.com/p/resq/teton-series-winch/10000lb-synthetic-rope

I have used mine three times, one to pull my brothers XJ out of a ditch, another to pull his TRACTOR out of the same ditch and then just a few weeks ago to pull his stalled XJ onto his trailer. Very happy with mine and it is a beast.

I have a Warn 10s platinum. Looked at cheaper Chinese products ( including the warn models made in China ) and it never made sense to go with anything less. I love the fact it has two plug and play accessory ports for lighting and I can control my Baja design and KC lights directly from the remote. Not having to run wires through the engine compartment and firewall is not only more convenient and esthetic but I don’t have to worry about warranty denial based on aftermarket electronic add ons since I had my dealer install the winch.

I always wanted to try out a Warn but I didn't want to order it. Store access prevailed (harbor freight) and it's my 2nd Badland so I went with the 9500 ZXR again. I've had good luck with them. On day one, I swapped out the cable with synthetic line. 100 feet I think it was like $80 on Amazon, I sold the cable for $25. It worked out well.

I’ve got the zxr 12000. I chose the cable instead of rope because I will use the winch for more than just recovery. I really haven’t used it too much but whenever I have it’s always spooled out easy and dragged anything I’ve needed it to.

Quadratech Stealth winch with synthetic rope. Operates wirelessly or connected with cable. Works friggin’ great.

That's a good looking winch. The LED drum light is a nice touch.
