LOL Lucas! I had a friend in high school with an MGB, and he spent way more time fixing electrical issues than actually driving the car.
That sounds familiar! Lucas, prince of darkness :CWL:.

I would absolutely love to have another MGB, tho. It would be more fun now that it would be a toy.

I've owned two MGBs. They can configured to be reliable vehicles (I've done it); the devil is in the details. Lucas wiring harnesses were built to a price point per factory specification. Too few fuses and relays were used, leading to any number of preventable issues. Headlight relay kits, improved rocker switch retrofits, etc. go a long way in keeping those cars on the road. I miss tinkering with mine.

Coincidentally, my first MGB was the replacement for the YJ which I had just sold due to material engine problems.

Dad was a Jeep tech. He drove a woody XJ, then had a YJ he fixed and flipped, then a few more XJs, then I worked at the jeep dealership. Then my brother got an XJ, then my dad got a ZJ 5.9, then my mom got a WK 5.7, I eventually got a TJ, which I drove for 5 years, and now we have our JL. Then dad sold the ZJ and the WK and got a WK2. So we are kind of a Jeep family.

My progression has been:
99 Dakota R/T
86 New yorker turbo
04 neon SRT-4
03 TJ
04 neon SRT-4 (bought it back)
01 996
20 JL

Currently have the Dakota, 996 and JL. A Jeep, a truck and a Porsche is a hard combo to argue with. Eventually I'd like to sell the 996 and get a 987.2, that would be pretty much the perfect garage for me.

when i was 4 or 5 my dad had a trailered, dedicated sand buggy, willy's or CJ i don't know. it was blue with slotted front tires and big sand paddles in the back. this was around '71-'72.

around '79 there was this really hot 17 YO girl on my paper route, with an orange CJ. it had one of those "ass, gas or grass, no one rides for free" stickers on it. i asked her what it meant. she asked how old i was and i told her i was 12. she said "come back i five years and i'll explain it to you". we moved 2 years later :( .

the ensuing years was a collection of VW's and Porsches with the odd BMW thrown in. a few years ago i had my '13 Boxster at the dealer and they gave me a Cayenne loaner that i took up into some snow. probly shouldn't have given it was on street tires, but had a blast.

at 50ish it was time for something not 4" off the ground. i have an '03 Silverado but that's not a DD. looked at Macans and Cayennes and thought about a JK when the JL was announced, so i waited a couple years for the bugs to get worked out. at 53 i test drove a '20 JLU and decided that a Rubicon was the way to go. spec'ed one on jeep.com and found one locally. test drove it and took it home (left the Boxster there).

looking back i didn't really care for the "spartan" build of earlier cj's and wranglers and being used to more finished cars, i'm glad i waited for a JLU.

but if you had told me when i was in my teens thru 40's that my first brand new car would be a Mopar product, i'd have died laughing.

Never understood the Jeep thing. Slow, donā€™t handle, rough ride etc. Always into Mustangs and Ford Super Dutys (talk about rough ride!)

Wife always wanted one so about 4 years ago I found her a 95 YJ 4.0 with an Auto in TX That had a lift and 33s and No Rust! Had it shipped up to MA. Spent a few weeks fixing it up for her and took it out for a ride and it HIT ME!

I was like Dam this thing is Fn Cool. Sits high like my truck, itā€™s a convertible and I can park it anywhere(donā€™t have to worry about someone opening their door into it like the Mustangs), it can drive over almost any terrain etc.

Long story short, all the Mustangs are gone, no more Super Duty and we have the YJ(soon to be wearing 35s), My 18 Rubicon and a 21 Rubicon with XR Package on order for my wife...

I have had 4 Ford Explorers(92, 05, 07, 10). I still have the ā€˜10. My daughter drives it. 145k and still runs great. A few of my friends have Wranglers and I caught the Wrangler bug. In June of 2017, I bought this ā€˜17 Big Bear off the lot. Now has 44k on it. Never had a problem. Just routine maintenance. Ordered a ā€˜21 JLU Sport S pretty much loaded it up. The amount they offered me for my ā€˜17 made ordering the new one a no brainer, plus I had received a $1,500 bonus cash offer in the mail.

Since I was a kid I've always liked Wranglers, but, for some reason or another I've never owned one. Drove a '95 Cherokee for a while, and came close to trading in my '06 Explorer for an '09 Wrangler Rubicon a few years ago, but, it was out of my price range at the time and it ended up being cheaper to fix my Explorer.

Fast forward a few more years and the Explorer finally could not be fixed up anymore and my Wife talked me into trading it for a new 2017 Jeep Patriot (She had a 2012 Patriot at the time). Decent little vehicle, but, I've never been the biggest fan of it for some reason. Last year when 6th Gen Ford Bronco got announced I jumped on that first chance as I've always loved the Bronco as well.

Well, I got sick of the delays, canceled my initial reservation and the 2012 Patriot had developed some serious problems, so, we traded it in for a '21 4Runner in March. I also figured I'd try again and set up another reservation/order for a 2 door Bronco, but, the hits just kept on coming, the excitement was fading fast and I started eyeballing a 2 door Wrangler, thinking back to the Rubicon I came so close to buying all those years ago...Well, I finally caved and canceled the Bronco yesterday placing an order for a 2021 Hydro Blue 2 door Rubicon instead! Sadly, no pics yet, but, fingers crossed I'll receive it in the near future.

Just about everyone has a cool uncle/aunt/older cousin whom they idolized as a kid. My cool uncle, the one who used to carry two 24-packs of beer to parties on his shoulders, had an early 70s Jeep. He had other vehicles after, including a Firebird with the big bird on it, but that Jeep always made me want one.
