My question is what size wheels do I need to achieve the wide tire look? I love how the wider tires look. On my Jk, I had stock freedom/Sahara rims with 35X12.5X18 and my tires looked narrower than I would have liked. I understand a wider rim would have helped with this but never upgraded. I just bought a new 2020 JLUR and am going to get wheels and tires and want the wider look. What size is everyone running to achieve this? 9 or 9.5? I'd like to go with a 17 or 16 inch rim but not sure how much the width should be, this will impact what wheel I can get. This might be a dumb question but if I find a wheel I like and it is only offered in an 8.5 or 9, can I put a 13.5 wide tire to help with the width look?

4 options I'm looking at are Fuel Beast, Fuel Tactic, Black Rhino Warlord, or Teraflex Deluxe Nomad. I will be putting on a 37X?X17 or 16 depending on what I go with. I like the Nomads but they are only 8.5 wide and I think that will look too narrow. The rest are all 17X9 except for the Fuel Best does come in a 17X10 version.

Any thoughts or insight would help. If you have a wider tire look I'd love to see the pics, thanks in advance!

17x9 -12 offset. If 10 inch wide it will probably be -24. With a 12.5 or 13.5 inch tire they will stick out quite a bit.
Use the below calculator if you want to figure out how much farther they will poke out. Factory wheels are 7.5 inches wide with +44 offset. Then account for added tire width. Factory rubicon tires are 11.2 wide if I recall correctly. So 13.5 would add an inch poke to the wheel calculators number.

Here is factory wheel vs 17x9 -12. Plus the extra inch from added tire width (13.5-11.2/2) and you will be about 4 inches farther out then currently sitting.

17 is best. Broadest range of available tires and it properly clears the big brake kit that comes on the Rubicon. 16's might not clear.

The width of the wheel doesn't have a huge affect on the overall wide tire look. A 9"wide wheel will just be sunken in from the sidewall of the tire more than a 10".

In my opinion, a 17x9 is a great size for larger tires. Not too narrow for 13.5" wide tires, enough sidewall bulge to protect the wheel, and minimizes wheel weight.

I chose 17x9 -12mm offset 4.53" backspace wheels and wrapped them in 38x13.50's for my 2019 Rubicon.

He has 17x9 Fuel Beast (one of your options) on 37s. Will give you a good feel how they look.

I have 17x9 -12 offset/4.53 BS Dirty Life on 37x12.50s

I had originally planned on 37's, but wasn't crazy about being forced into a D or E-rated tire. The D's might not be too bad, compared to the 33" factory C's, because the taller sidewall creates a larger air cushion that may offset the firmer construction.

When I saw the C-rated 38x13.50 Milestar Pat's, I figured I'd give them a go. Plus, these run about 37.5" mounted on the vehicle. Seems most 37's are really 35.5".

Want it to look wide, run -3.5 inch of backspacing instead of the normal -4.5. That will make the Jeep 2 inches wider. Of course if you wheel it, that also means that you will scrub in narrow spots more often.

This is with 37x12.5r17 tires, If you went with the 13.5, then that would also be another 2 inches wider.

The tires extend a bit past the fenders. Does this result in small stones and gravel being thrown up against the side of the Jeep?

Do you have inner fenders? I don't see any. I like the look of the chopped fenders. Are those American Adventure Labs?

As @hoag4147 said, I run Fuel Beasts 17x9 with 37" Nitto Ridge Grapplers.

Yes, about 2-5/8" poke up front and 3" out back. The LOD Destroyer sliders block a lot, but this setup is definitely not for someone that likes their Jeep to stay clean. If the fenders weren't chopped, it would block more. A set of front Rockblox mud flaps, or the new ones from weathertech, would go a long way.

Yes, I installed the highline fender brace/sequential led lights, front and rear inner liners, and front and rear fender retention hardware from AAL. I opted for satin black powder coat for the liners, because they clean up easy and don't stick out until you look for them. Textured would've just allowed buildup of crud and didn't want the light reflectivity of gloss black.
