I have the LOD Destroyer Sliders. I have never seen the Roams in person. Beyond any finish differences (this would come down to the powdercoats), the key difference is how they mount. Neither require removal of the main body bolts (this was key for me and I had narrowed it down between these two because of this). The Roams mount by attaching a set of brackets to the Jeep, and the mounting the steps to the brackets. The LODs are one piece - you mount the steps (with their welded on brackets) directly to the Jeep. I pass no judgement on which is “better”, but this to me is the key difference.

So the difference is the mount (and the cutting of the logo into the metal).
I looked into the LOD steps a little more today and noticed that there are a few other small differences. First the step portion is much smaller on the LOD. The Roam has much larger step openings. Second, all of the bolts for the Roam are o the side of the frame rail, or up near the body mount. Nothing on the bottom of the frame. It looks like LOD has a few bolts that go into the bottom of the frame rail. This would be a spot that could get damaged (bolt heads scraped up etc) and May also get in the way of aftermarket skid plates. Looking at the LOD, I am not sure they would work with my Metalcloak Undercloak system. The last thing I noticed is the Roam appears to be a little larger and has less gaps with the factory fenders. This is something I was looking for as I wanted to use the as a way to stop the constant rock sandblasting with the factory setup.

As far as quality, they both seem good to me. I think either will be a great addition over factory rock rails.

Hey BikiniJeep!
Fit is excellent and installation was a breeze...can be done by one person, but is definitely easier with two when initially lifting and fitting the side step bar onto the brackets and also when positioning the side step bar up tight against the pinch seam.
The MAGNUM brand is visible on each step. I've uploaded a close-up photo. Personally, I like the look of the MAGNUM on each step. I think the typeface/font matches the beefy look&feel of this product. That said, when you first see these side steps on a vehicle, most folks are not going to notice the word first...they'll notice the overall style.
Hope this helps! :)

Thanks for the help! Took the plunge and bought the Magnums. I even found the 2018 version on Amazon that doesn’t have the word “Magnum” on the step. Now I need me some tires and wheels...

I know the Ace JL Rock Sliders fit over the Rubicon OEM Rock Rails; does anyone know of any other steps that can be used in conjunction with the OEM rails? I would rather not remove the rock rails...I hate the pinch seam

Does this count as pinch seam? I did remove the OEM rails so that may be out.

These seem exactly what I am looking for. I had OE Rubicon Rails that I had added to my Sahara (same color as yours) Love simple look and the way they hide the pinch seem. My only complaint was since my wheels are pretty well offset - my tires kick up so much on my side once I swapped with my Sahara steps.

Fast forward - to now, I just installed a 2" mopar lift that gave me more like 3.5". That plus 35's and my kids could no longer get into the Jeep. I put my Sahara steps back on today - but want something that still feels OE but not overly stylized. These seem like the perfect balance of OE look with the function I need for access~

Thanks for this post.

Ok, more crummy garage photos. Sorry they aren’t better - tried to show some of the “worst angles” to see the pinch seam. You really don’t see it, just those bolts I mentioned if you know what to look for. You can see mine a bit since they aren’t fully black.

I also included the measuring tape photo so you can see the actual gap.

Width of the step area is 4.5” by my measurement. I also included side profile shots so you can compare it against the fenders for a reference point.

I had factory Mopar steps on my JK Sahara, and for comparison these are definitely not any more difficult to use. They feel more sturdy and grippy if anything (but not painful on your feet).

Love if you could share any photos of how these finish towards the fender flares. They appear to angle in. Just curious to get a better angle understand how these finish. Love them and am pretty convinced that these are what I have been looking for~

Just ordered these today. Wanted something that attached to the frame and was not comfortable mounting to the center body bolts or the pinch seam. I was set on the LoD signature, but I feel these are bit beefier and I really like the look. Same price as the LoD as well and not crazy expensive like the genright. https://www.vksfab.com/product/informant-rock-sliders/

I put LOD Destroyer rock sliders on my JLU because I needed rock sliders and because i was tired of rocks beating the crap out of my fenders and door hinges. they stick out far enough to protect my fenders and give me a nice step up into my lifted JLU. They are super durable and will accept a HIGHlift jack. They are made in America!! I then put RokBlokz mud flaps on the old girl and rocks are no longer a problem on my overland trips... These mudflats can be taken off for rock crawling...These mount to the frame not the pinch seam.. Check out their website.. They lift a FLJ by the rales with fork lifts. These thing are durable!!!

Who makes these?
Those are Metalcloak side steps rock slider The step flips up for rock protection or down for a step. I had them on my Jk and quality is top notch. I went with LoD this time on my JL and glad I did. The LoD steps just look a bit better to me on a JL. Can’t go wrong with either tho imo.

Just ordered Nemesis "Billy rocker" rock sliders. They don't have them up on there web site yet but if u pull them up for jk they look real similar. They have a added step u can purchase separately that is installed/removed with 2 bolts. So easy removal for those hard core outings. They r pretty similar to jcr's sliders but in aluminum. Nemesis says there about 3 week lead with powder coat
Nemesis makes nice stuff. I have their fender flares on my JK. Good to know about their Billy Rockers; are they the 2 door or 4 door version? What was the price? I might order a set for my yet-to-be-delivered 2 door JL (if they are making them for the 2 door).

Just installed Rockslide Engineering steps on the JLUR. I don’t get impressed easily but there kit is straight forward, great wiring harness and carefully thought out. Don’t know how they hold up to rocks but they look sturdy. Of course I would not have them on my rock krawler. I have slammed my TJ on my Warn’s with the added tubing may times. Not sure they will hold up to that abuse. They need to make an option cover to go over the step so you can bang them on rocks!
