What side steps / rock rails to add to JL Wrangler?

I'm running the N-Fab Cab Length RS Nerf Side Step Bars in Textured Black. Very simple install. Unbolt stock bars. Attach new bars with included new hardware.

I’ve had the Road Armor Stealth for about six months. I love it. They’re great as side steps and good as rock rails. No loss in ground clearance.

How do the mount. I would assume I'd need to remove my rubi rails, do you need to mess with the body mount bolts?

They mount pretty much the same as the rubi rails (you do have to remove the rubi rails) except they dont have studs welded to them like the rubi rails. You use bolts with lock washers, flat washer and locking nut. Thats for the pinch weld sections.

Then they mount to the frame using the same 3 frame mount bolts the rubi’s use.

They are very easy to install. I did mine the other day by myself.

Not many step options out there that are a direct bolt on and inexpensive unless you feel up to doing a little DIY.

For under $100 Canadian including tax and shipping, I was able to bolt on two of the Lund Side Steps (P/N 26410025) to my Rubi rails. These steps are actually meant to be used with the Lund Rock Rails, but I decided to try mounting them to the Rubicon Rock Rails instead. I figured a return would be easy if it didn't work since I purchased them from Amazon.

It did take a little bit of work on my part to get them installed, and if you want to do the same you would need to do the following;

- Mark the spot on the underside of the Rubicon Rock Rails where you want to mount these steps.

- Drill 4, 11 mm (7/16") holes into the bottom side of each of the stock Rubi Rock rails.

- Then you need to insert an M8 sized Rivnut into each hole that you just drilled. I used a stainless M8 Rivnut because those matched the size of the bolts included with the steps, but there are brass Rivnuts available as well.

- Once you have the Rivnuts inserted and compressed, you would use the bolts, washers and locking washers that come with the steps to mount them to the Rock Rails.

You'll need to use a good quality Rivnut tool to compress the stainless Rivnuts as they're a little stronger than the standard brass Rivnuts.

I really like this setup. Looks totally professional. I have N-Fabs that are rusting 3 months into one winter.

Anyone have any luck with Amp Research Power step. I had some & they were junk. I see they make a heavy duty one now, but that's not saying much from my previous ones. All they saw were winter roads.

I have a set of these ($999.00) Mopar rails I'll sell for $500.00 like new (a little muddy but no dings or scuffs whatsoever) for local pickup in the Phoenix AZ area.

Hi Everyone,

Finally installed the new side steps/rock guards on my wife's JLU today. They're from Greenlane Offroad a Canadian company. Made of high strength aluminum and we opted for the black powder coat finish.

We're super pleased with the reduced weight (they say there 15 lbs less than the stock rock sliders), the fact that they'll never rust and they also look great.. I'll post a more detailed review including the backstory on why we went with these in a standalone thread.

This particular thread was very helpful when I was doing research on what to get so a huge thanks to everyone who has posted here with their experiences.

Great news! did you have to remove the factory rock sliders? That was the one advantage of the ACE Engineering sliders/steps, you were able to keep the factory rock rails on and they also helped protect and cover the bottom pinch seam

This will be going on a '22 Sahara 4xe. I'm not a fan of the plastic steps. I would put some Rubi rails on there but my girlfriend needs a step. I like the JCR Classic sliders but not a fan of the exposed pinch, especially since the Jeep is black and those chrome bolts would be exposed. Those aluminum Greenlane sliders look like the best I've seen yet.

This is what the ACE slider/steps look like. They bolt to the 3 body mount bolts, you do not have to touch the rock rails at all
