So this set of mats came with our 18 JLU. Dumb question but where do they go? Is this a mat system for the cargo area?

They're for the cargo area. The smaller ones attach to the back of the seats.

Thanks, kinda thought they might be seat backs but totally sure. Wife has the Jeep at work so I will test for later tonight or tomorrow

They gave you the wrong ones. I'll take them off your hands for $20. ;)
Just kidding, as others have mentioned, they are for the back of your rear seats and cargo area.

Yep they are in the cargo area and go up the rear back seats.

I have them and I don’t really like them because when I fold the seats down, they pull on the cargo mat and if I have any weight on them the friction pulls them out of their little sockets. I may try to cut them eventually so it’s seperate from the seat backs

I have them, but I don't particularly recommend them.

It's a good idea in theory, but the way they designed it to snap into the rear it's pretty much impossible to lay down the seats without the snaps coming undone. You can't easily run it with one seat down and one up without unsnapping them either. I decided to cut the rear mat off of the vertical bit and it now sits better. I've thought about just getting rid of the cargo divider section (the little upright part that covers the gap between the rear seats and cargo are) entirely but haven't done it yet.

I haven't had this issue. I wonder what is different. I've had them in place for a few years and two moves (with many many seat-down cargo situations).
