Half doors I get! That was the best part of my YJ
I can actually set a McDonald’s bag in the seat and drive home now 😂

I enjoyed running naked, wife not so much. So I grabbed some OEM tube doors. I thought they were good looking but not very functional other than an arm rest. You still couldn’t put anything in the seat without fear of flying out, just like naked :). Well, I ended up with what I really wanted, OEM half doors. I really liked them on our TJ. Some folks do feel more comfortable with tube doors than no doors. Good luck in your decision. Here’s some Jeep porn with different doors.

Hit me up before you trade that in or sell it in a few years. I'll buy those half doors from you!

Will do. May be sooner then you think 😂. Possibly ordering a new MY22.

I know this isn’t helpful, but

I don’t really get tube doors. It’s an extra set of doors you have to buy, store, and install when you could just be naked. What’s the appeal?
#1 safety: ive seen videos of people falling out with no doors (some running themselves over)

#2 mirrors: many tube doors come with mirrors (decent ones too) installed on them - it avoids having a double mirror mounted for when you do take the doors off

#3 arm rest:

#4 mounting equipment: they can be fitted with brackets for shovel, or other off-roading equipment

#5 looks: they do look cool

#6 pets: if you have a dog it may be a good idea to use if you take it out with you - and can give you that option to go doorless.

I know in PA running without doors can get you pulled over. Tube doors are good to go though.
PA is frustrating, the vehicle code requires the vehicle to be equipped with manufacturer’s original equipment. So technically if your Jeep was built without doors it’s allowed. But basically it comes down to how an officer wants to handle. I’ve never had an issue running my tube doors with the saddle bag coverings. I’ve gone half a summer running that way. But I was also more conscious about not giving an officer any other reason to pull me over. To answer the original question tho, they don’t offer much other than making the Jeep look more complete when naked, and the saddle bags were a good safe place for my phone and wallet so they don’t fall out of my pockets.

Thanks for all the feedback. Definitely have me thinking if I go naked, go half doors, or still look for tube doors.

Back to the initial question - if one chooses to go tube doors, are there any lessons learned on what makes a good tube door? I see prices range from $250-$600 for a set. Any design features or manufacturers to recommend or avoid?
