What lift kit will you go with for your JL Wrangler?

After what I've gone through to get my JKU on 37's and 12" coilovers I'll be making a huge shift and probably not putting a lift on the JLU for some time, instead adding some King air shocks, leveling the front, and tweaking the bumpstops will be probably the most I'll do and stick to 33's for as long as possible. It's pretty eye opening to run the Rubicon on 37's like it's a highway and then watch a stock 1948 CJ2A with military NDT's run the same lines.

Here's me in said Jeep, it's was awesome enough I got my own...
Do 37's really make the Rubicon that easy?

Do 37's really make the Rubicon that easy?
Crazy easy, but also remember one of the hardest obstacles is now just a moderate rock garden. We ran it with Jeepers Jamboree so all the spotters makes it a much more approachable trail. There were quite a few stock rubicons that we saw as well as the 48 and a stock 64 running the trail, so it’s hard to justify saying to the wife we have to have 37’s and coilovers...

I was pleased with my BDS 3” lift on my JKU will wait for their offerings. If I remember correctly for the JK the 3” with upgraded shocks was about $1200

Videos? That sounds damn impressive.
I wish, I was to awestruck watching them do it I completely forgot to turn on my camera.

Back to the the topic at hand, after seeing the recent MetalCloak CTI score and the few video's of the articulation of the new JL's I'm doubling up on my thoughts of staying as minimal as possible and not trying to go with such an extreme lift like what's needed on previous Wranglers. To me this seems to be one of the best platforms recently released on an offroad vehicle that's not going to need thousands upon thousands of dollars to make better.

I was seriously considering going with whatever Teraflex or AEV are gonna make, but the more I look at the Mopar 2" kit with Fox shocks, the more I'm inclined to go that route. Keeping the geometry as stock as possible will allow the JL to retain its factory feel and the fact they've corrected a lot of goofy JK design choices, specifically the exhaust loop that goes under the front driveshaft, means less needs to be done to accomplish my goal.

Of course, the dealership wants $2,500 to install the thing because apparently they charge $2,500 an hour (I can't imagine a shop with a lift and tools taking more than an hour to install this thing) or they just really really really want to take their time to make sure it's installed absolutely perfect. :facepalm:

...and stick to 33's for as long as possible.
I seem to be in the small camp that thinks the 33s actually look good. My primary off road use will be silver lake sand dunes, so I don't need rock clearance tall tires allow, and frankly to me the 37, and even 35 just have too much Hot Wheels look to them, I really don't mean that pejoratively, just like I'm sure many will think mine on 33s won't be their look.

I went with the Mopar because of warranty, and I really don't think it is a bad lift. I have mine waiting for my JL, but installed price is 1795, and then with my 295/70/17 M/T G003s on ATX AX195s, I'll have little impact on the performance, but a wider more aggressive tire, and I like the look of that size tire with the 2" lift, to me it says this vehicle is capable of serious suspension travel, and everyone and their brother is now running around on 35s that stick way out, so I like to be different.

Dave Smiths is charging me 1995 to install.. 500 bucks..

1495 for the lift and 500 to install... wish I could make up my mind on tires
Go with a 35, stay closer to stock. You gain 3” on the lift alone and have tons of space to flex, will get you just about anywhere a 37 can without having to stress more about beefing up axles quite yet. Also you gotta think warranty of some dealers seeing you stroll in with a broken axle or tranny problem on 37s
I got ridge grapplers for the snow performance and on road performance. Hybrid AT/MT. Either way I’d look at an AT over a MT or a hybrid. Typically have stronger sidewalll
Grapplers are quieter than my wife’s Nokian snow tires on Subaru

On my ‘10 and ‘14 JK’s I had Toyo MT and Nitto Trail Grappler with 35’s and 4” Lift and would still rub fully flexed with stock fenders. I am leaning towards 35’s on the JL with 2”...the only reason I was thinking 37’s is from what I’ve read... new 8 speed tranny seems to have helped and guys are saying they fit etc... regardless, I’m in the “Wait Club” I have my VON so hopefully I’ll get it soon but the longer I wait the more options may become available.
