So this random thought popped into my head scary
What is your range off-road in low range only doesn’t matter if it’s rock crawling or maybe a little bit higher speed along washboard roads but in low range only how far can you go?
And what motor are you running? What gears are you running? I have no idea what minus.?
And I know it’s gonna vary by altitude, driving style, terrain, etc. still would like to know what everybody thinks they’ve got or could do?

Anytime offroad low range is engaged when; A. I want to go really slow due to rough terrain. B. Preparing to go over, up/down, an obstacle. C. Don't want to spill special beverages.

Low range is only for around 15-20mph tops. You might wear out before the car does doing 17.5 mph all day

If I stay in 4low, i usually burn about a quarter of a tank every 20 miles. That'll be a mix of slow rock crawling, and short stretches of easier dirt in between obstacles. So what is that, 4-5 mpg?

Edit: I should add, 3.6L e torque, 37s and a 3.5" lift

You can do the Rubicon Trail on a tank. That's sufficient for most of us.
Not necessarily in a 2dr. I would have been on fumes if I was lucky. Carried 4gal additional and thought I would need it and used it.

FWIW, I've gotten my best MPG in 4HI on dirt roads doing 35 MPH. About 28 MPG. And my worst in 4LO on very rocky 3-dimensional terrain. So that's something to factor in as well.

That's the problem with Jeeps and range. Terrain, speed and driver style play such a huge factor you just can't get a number and rely on it.

I was just going to say this. I can go for two days, in low range the whole time, which is enough to complete the Rubicon Trail in my 392 that has all stock drivetrain (4.56 gears), and have 3/8 of a tank left at the end of the trail.

I don't know where you would be driving for long distances in low range but maybe places like Rubicon trail would qualify.
I've done long distances offroad, driving slow because of the rough terrain, but rarely used 4LO. Driving on rough terrain at around 10mph my dash display would drop below 10mpg. We still did over 200 miles offroad, not all of it was 10mph.
