i figured. i'll bet 7.3 over 6.7 if it was a ford.
Probably, but I have a few family members who are Ford truck owners and they swear the 6.7 Powerstroke issues have been worked out. It's that 1000 foot pounds of torque (roughly) that the Cummins 6.7 and the 7.3 Powerstroke get that would get me excited.

Normally aspirated 6.4 liter V-8 but none of the ESS and cylinder deactivation stuff with the non painted hardtop and fenders.

None of the above, but I would be happy with the current 6 or 4T WITHOUT the stupid nanny state ESS system!!! Hate ESS with a passion.

On that note, while going through my current electrical issues and endless warranty repair attempts, I did learn FCA can disable ESS with a key stroke. But will not leave it turned off nor will allow dealership to turn it off before handing it back to the customer.

Poll is incomplete, the best engine for a JL is a LS3.
LS3 is a great powerplant!! I've read a lot of good and bad about crossing platforms specific to the electronic integrations to pause and realize that is not for me.

I can't diagnose all the electronics on modern engines and when something goes wrong and I have to reach out for help, the platform bridge is just another complication. I don't think I could justify it when there are so many good hemi options.

I feel Jeep could have used the nostalgia factor and stroked the 3.6 to 4.0 liters.

If the question is which engine would I choose if they were to all make the same power the answer is easily an inline 4. It's the lightest and least complicated. Supercharged V8 will absolutely sound the best though.

I wanted a V8 Wrangler badly enough to wait close to an extra year before delivery (after seeing the July tease), chose colors I didn’t want for exterior and interior, and am paying a lot more money than the truck is really worth to order a 392...but it’s a V8!

For those who don’t want painted fenders and hardtop, can’t you replace them? Or wrap them? I get it’s extra cost, but if you realllllly want the Hemi....

I doubt there is ESS on the 392, my V8 GCs have never had it. That’s the second best reason to buy the V8, the ESS sucks.

On the engine preference question, as an anecdote, my dealer was allocated 5 x 392s and has sold 4, and they were allocated 7 x 4xe and have sold 2. They are not optimistic about 4xe sales.

I'm pretty happy with the I4turbo in my 2 door 21 willys. But that 5.7 is a good choice, it'll drink 85 all day and run fine.
