What is this part for?

So i changed the engine air filter and pulled the air box to get a better look at where I'm going to run my winch wires when that day comes anyways i saw this air intake tube under the air box. It starts on passenger side grill shoots back then curves to passenger side fender like picture shows. It hooks to nothing is it a pre air box cooler lol.

"Ambient Air Duct"

Looks like it just points some outside air near the intake of the air box. It's probably not "connected" so it doesn't create a suction point for water.
