We purchased this wrangler new under a year ago. It is a 2021 rubicon 2 door. I don’t drive it often and noticed this sensor looking device, it has 2 lights that I have not seen turn on and a small black button on the top. It appears wired in under the steering panel. It is not plugged into the diagnostics port. Any suggestions ??
I haven’t seen them on any other wranglers. Tia!

No wife to track me lol! Is it part of Uconnect? I suspected if it was gps tracker it would be plug and play. This came from the dealer as such!

No, that’s not factory. I can assure you of that.

If you bought the Jeep new, it could an inventory tracking device installed by the dealer. Some dealers install tracking devices as a security precaution. Sometimes they try to charge you for it as an “added value”; other times they disable it upon delivery.

If you bought the Jeep used, it could be anything.

It's some sort of cheesy anti-theft device. It seems that most dealers install something similar nowadays. I'm surprised that they didn't try to charge you for it.

Doubt an inventory tracker would be screwed in to the plastic on the vehicle - but maybe. That looks more like a toggle switch for something that is no longer connected. Does it have 'power' of any kind? To the point, no it isn't factory that is unique ;)

I know you said you bought it new, but how many miles were on it when you got it?

It's an "Auto Security System" dealers get a discount on there insurance to install those on all cars. Some dealers will try to charge you more and sell it as a security system, some will take it out when you buy a car, but most just leave it in there.

Many times they do a hackjob on the wiring to put it in unfortunately, but it should be removable.

Damn sucks they screwed it in. They didn’t charge for it and I had Kahu with my last Jeep so I was familiar with that. This came standard with Uconnect and only had 20 miles on it.

Thank you all for your insight
I literally purchased the car with 20 miles and only put like 400 miles since. No one else has access so idk what the heck they did at the dealer . They are lucky I have moved out of state and can’t just pop in there.

It almost looks like a "Valet" button for a security system, but then again who knows. Did it come with stock key fobs or aftermarket alarm?
