What is this gasket? - Manual Transmission

Does anyone know what this channel is for on the manual transmission? Or why mine appears to be missing a gasket?

Wow I'm so sorry no one's ever seen this till now. It's not a gasket, just a plug, it is not vital in any way. Especially with the opening in the center between the plugs on the JL trans, it does not prevent objects from coming in like they do on other vehicles. don't sweat it, nothing is wrong.
