I apologize if this has been asked before but I've searched far and wide and found no answer. My question is, as the picture shows, what is this nubbin' kind of thing for on the dash of my 2018 JLR?

Fyi... the light switch on the challenger was similar to the jl and prone to failure. Failure usually resulted in battery drain and flickering lights when in the off position. It even fried some people's batteries. Mine failed on my challenger at about 10k miles.

If you like to drive with your lights on and avoid switch failure cover the sensor with something and leave it on auto. I am currently looking for the right cover that doesn't look fugly.

I have not heard of such problem on the JL but I will keep a close watch on the headlights.

It is the helmet for the little soldier that lives in your dash. DO NOT PISS HIM OFF!

If you open the dash up, can you put the non-sensor piece in its place and then secure the sensor inside the dash where it will stay dark?

Was just a thought that popped in my head.

What about taping it off really good and plastidip the sensor? Or just put a piece of tape over it.

Mine base Sport doesn't have one but I do get a warning in the dash that my lights are on. It's a chime along with a cute picture of the front of a JL with the lights on. :giggle:
