That slot below the window switches, 12v, and media ports? What is it called?
I really want to keep my phone in there when driving, but it’s not quite deep enough and / or not quite tacky / grippy enough.

I believe it is called a cubby... I'm just planning on using mine as a place to keep loose change in my unlocked Jeep.

It's there to fill in a spot where switch panels can go. If you don't have a rubicon or the tow package, which you don't have, you will have the full size cubby below your window switch panel.

If you have the rubicon and the tow package as @Jeeporama has, you will have no cubby.

Only the rubicons come with the red switch panel, which is for the sway bar disconnect and the lockers. If they don't have the tow package, they will have a half size cubby to the right, under the window switch panel.

Finally, if you don't have a rubicon, but have the tow package, you will have the auxiliary switch panel, which is on the right and you will have a half cubby on the left.

This is what I have. It's completely worthless. Oh well.

My Echo Auto fits in the slot and Alexa can still hear me.

Same, sort of. I didn't get the tow package, but had the dealership install just the aux switch panel. So I have the half cubby too.

Honestly though, I feel like the cubby and the switches are in such an out of the way spot though that I don't even think about them being there.

My garage door opener fits perfectly in this half length cubby. It’s perfect for that, but otherwise useless as far as I’ve found.

Why not a phone mount on the dash...67 Designs, RAM, etc.? Very popular in these parts.

My Samsung Note 5 in a big rubber cover fits perfectly in there. About a half inch sticks out. Tom
