I am debating on just swapping out the oem 7” head unit from my 2021 Rubicon to an aftermarket type. My main reason is to have the ability to run two amps, and not have to deal with having to add a high I/o (like pac)

which head units have you guys gone with? Why? Satisfied?

suggestions?

The biggest issue I've seen when going this route is retention of Aux Switches settings, making the Alpine x409 a seamless integration.

This might not be an issue for you and I'll be watching to see any suggestions made!

Four grand for a stereo head unit is insane.

I figured someone on here had done something else aftermarket

You aren't wrong! The 8.4" gets you more real estate but still in the same situation of no pre-amp outs, and no factory support.

Adding the x409 doubles the budget for even a quality hifi build, let alone anything reasonable

I was just asking a similar question in another thread. The cost of the stereo with Uconnect is insane. I am following this one...

The 2021 Rubi I have on order comes with the 7”’Uconnect standard. I think all models do now.

No compatibility issues with Tazers or Superchips products?

Nice unit if I do say so myself! The full 10" infotainment kit for JL is now available at Stinger Off-Road for less than the factory upgrade to the 8.4" and ads a lot of cool off-road features and gauges that your Jeep won't have from factory.
https://stingeroffroad.com/collections/jeep-stereos-infotainment/products/rb10jw18b
I noticed a few things different in the full kit vs just integration kit:
- no GPS module, will the GPS in our Sirius antenna work?
- the harnesses look different, are they just bundled? or is there a difference
- no chime, are you able to control that on boot up now via speakers?
- antenna adapter (teal fakra) looks to need 12v now and not passive, are things still plug-and-play?

Thanks for having a community presence, this looks to be the solution most-all of us have wanted in an aftermarket solution!

PS The product page says JL but lists JK years

I haven't seen any issues. We have a Tazer Lite installed on our show Jeep JL and a Superchip in one of our JK installs. Both work great and won't interfere with the radio.
