What happened to Insane Audio's JL3001 head unit?

It apparently was shown at SEMA with a release soon to follow. I have heard and seen nothing since SEMA started. Kind of sucks since the Alpine unit is so expensive.

I sent IA a note during SEMA asking about the JL3001 and the response was to keep an eye on their Facebook page after the show for release news.

The last thing they officially communicated was that preorders would start at some point in November. Hopefully, the timing doesn't slip.

Thanks for the heads up! Of course today was the first day in a month I haven't checked! Just got mine on pre-order...can't wait!

$1399. Very reasonable. Now I just need to see a video or some details on how it works. Hopefully you dont need Google assistant for basic voice commands. Otherwise I am all in.

I emailed them about a few things (mostly technical about hardware). However, they did say this:

We also support wireless CarPlay now

So, less than half the price of Alpine's unit and supports wireless CarPlay.

You can always email them and ask. They replied quickly to me, and they seem really friendly.

Unless I missed it, there still is the volume control issue. Since there is no knob I'm going to have to use the steering wheel unless I spend $500 for a new climate control. I really wish I splurged and got some more packages or a higher trim. Almost sold the thing for a different vehicle entirely because I was so frustrated on how limited my options are.

Correct, there is no knob. I'm in the same boat as you, but I'd still rather not have the digital climate control stack.

Well, after a couple of emails with Insane I am probably going Alpine. There replies were so pretentious that I dont think I want to do business with them. I will however wait to see some official reviews in case it turns out to be an incredible head unit.
