What FCA vehicles share the same 8AT as the Wrangler?

V6 Charger/Challenger have been using it since 2012.

V6 Ram since 2013

V6 Grand Cherokee/Durango since 2014

Wrangler was the last to get it.

Every RWD based vehicle FCA has, is using it. V8’s use a beefier version.

Would the v8 version be a plug and play?

We have a 2016 Durango R/T with the 8 speed, and the one on my JL feels a lot smoother and quicker at shifting. It also doesn't wonder quite as much trying to find the right gear. Both are fantastic though, and I am just nitpicking to be honest. The low 1st really makes crawling down a steep hill extremely easy.

The internals are not interchangeable.

I'm not sure if the transmission in its entirety can easily be swapped or not. There are so many electronics now I doubt they would run on the same program. I don't know that anyone has tried yet.

Thanks for the replies, must say I'm very impressed w/ the performance of this AT vs. the 7 speed on my Infiniti G, that one is indecisive and not the best shift points w/ some lag and inconsistent behavior.

This AT shifts so quick and seems to be in optimum rpm ranges for the task at hand, tested a BMW 135i w/ DCT and this AT shifts about as quick!

The 8 speed in the JL Wrangler is an 850RE. This trans is not the same as the 8 speeds found in any of chryslers V8 Applications. Only V6 model vehicles use this trans from 2018 forward. a 8HP70/75 From a ram will not bolt up to the V6.

This ^^

Prior vehicles got the 845RE. The JL gets the 850RE. The JL trans is not exactly like all the other 8 speeds from the past several years.

Isnt the HP50 RFE beefed up vs the older HP45. Have 2 HP70s behind the Hemis, these are best transmissions out there, was smart to use the ZF transmission design

Torque capacity appears to be the same for 845 vs 850, so they didn't beef it up. FCA really hasn't done any marketing on what changes were made. I'd guess they were minor improvements
