I picked up a few SIDIO crates for storing kitchen/camping gear. Original plan was to stack them to the right of the fridge. But once I add a Vector GGB shelf and fridge, they will be tougher to get it and out. I wondered if I could mount some drawer slides to the bottom of the bottom-most crate for easier access.
Questions:
1. Does anyone know of any drawer slides (only need 16” or 18”) that would work in this use case? With the tight tolerances, I don’t think a traditional side-mount drawer slide would work. I see “Pantry Slides” or “Television Slides”, but they all stick up a couple inches - I was hoping for something a bit more low-profile, so I can fit 3 of these crates underneath the shelf.
2. Would it be possible to take some regular drawer slides and turn them 90 degrees and mount them flat? I saw this question on an Amazon listing, and the manufacturer said you would lose 90% of the weight rating if you did that (I assume the ball bearings wouldn’t be riding the way they were designed).
