Sounds like you'd be the first. Someone with good metal skills could do it pretty quick. Easiest way would be to just deepen it by cutting about halfway down, horizontally, drop the bottom down and flat strap around, weld it up. Or you could find a totaled one in the junkyard and cut it up high and cut yours down lower, add in the taller piece. Half the weld seam.
Isn't it just a bolt in plastic tub? My Borla exhaust melted a corner of the bin (photo), so I don't think there is any metal below the bottom other than some heat shielding. Maybe if the tub was removed, it could be used as a template to make a new one out of metal that is deeper. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a metal worker.

Ha! I thought the plastic was just a liner.

After looking at that thread, I'd just stick a block of urethane foam on the original tub, shape it and make it the new deep tub, then make a female mold, then lay up the part. The mold would be re-useable.
Then make a second one our of aluminum and sell it to me, right?

Do you have a pic of how you put a sub in there?
@Packnbeer

In regard to a 2dr. JL like I have, the factory places a sub in that floor cargo holder that 4 dr. models have. Sub takes up the whole cargo holder.

Thanks. Didn't know there was a factory option for a sub there. I was hoping for a good aftermarket option

Apparently, a lot of people are using it for a cooler. Throw in beer and ice.
When you are done, pull the plug in the bottom and drain out the water!

JL audio made one for that area for the JK. I haven’t seen it for the JL, but I’m sure something custom could be made.

Huge jumper cables, a winch, gloves, NOCO jumper (which won't jump your jeep) random camping emergency stuff. I wish it was better utliized. Has anyone stopped running the rear carpet piece? I don't see much point of it and when I'm camping (in the jeep) it moves constantly and I have to check before slamming the tailgate on it. It just seems pointless aside from aesthetics and maybe some insulation.
