What Do You Like Most/Least About The New JL?

Like:
  • New Turbo engine and 8 speed Auto (better mpg).
  • No more zippers.
  • Overall refinement/improved quality.
  • Beefier looking front end.
  • Safety features (camera, standard side airbags, rear park assist, and blind spot/cross path detection).

Dislike:
  • Hard Top Headliner is optional.
  • Substantial price increase.
  • Some features only available on more expensive trim level.
  • Some features optional even on higher trim levels.

There isn’t a thing I can think about I like that I like less... of course I don’t own the JL yet, but the JL seems to have checked all of the boxes between quality and options that I always wish the JK could have been.

easy fold down windshield I will fold it down often.
cage looks great painted and exposed
kept with the Wrangler heritage.

improvement on the soft top

Dislike
not enough standard options on the Rubi, and Sahara
I don't think they fixed the seatbelt in the wind noise I hate with everything in my soul
no aluminum bumper option

Like: everything except:

Dislike:
manual transmission not offered with 2.0T.
Optional sound system has the same 552W amplifier it has had for quite a while now.
Rubicon rear differential does not have limited slip when not locked ( like the power wagon ram has had for a decade)
Price has gone past the bread and butter demographics of the Jeep Wrangler community.

I’ve seen this a lot, but according to their buyer demographics these concerns are unfounded... the typical buyer is in the 6 figure demo and upwardly Mobile, I think many are prone to thinking of the bread and butter a lot differently then it truly is.

Likes: Retro TJ/CJ styling. Hood doesn't look like it's going to fly off at 60 mph.

Dislikes: Limited option selection on Sport. Lumpy looking factory soft top.

I agree. I think their target demographic has changed significantly since the introduction of the JK. I'm not saying they are pricing themselves above their target, but they are targeting way higher than they have done before the JK. Admittedly, I've never considered a Wrangler before the JK, but I feel that there may be a lot of for hardcore Jeep fans scratching their heads on the JL pricing.

I hear you... and I don’t want to take the thread off track... but I’ve owned 8 wranglers from different gens including the JK., this go around I’ve ordered a well optioned Rubi, and I built a JK to the most comparable specs I could to compare and the difference was a few hundred dollars, if I built a recon ( which in some ways is actually more comparable) the price was less for the JL and it has more content then the JK recon....I think when the special editions come on the market in another year or so it will fill some of the voids that people are looking for.

I think with each incoming model generation the prior generation owners see a departure from their beloved Jeep brand. TJ owners were having mixed feelings over having power windows and locks. When rumors of the Wrangle possibily loosing solid axles came out you thought there was gonna be a revolt. I think Jeep has done a great job pushing the design, but sadly I too think the days of what made Jeep the utility vehicle it was is over and replaced with it being a social status.

I'll play thread cop: please don't debate the demographics, or whether this is really a Jeep, etc. There are plenty of other threads already wrecked by those discussions.

Personally I like the Rubi wheel options and the Sahara optional wheels ( subjective I know) but the standard wheel for the Sahara and all options on the sport leave a whole lot to be desired... I actually really dislike them.
