What Do You Do With Your Old Bumper?

Like a majority of Jeep owners, I will be upgrading my 2021 Sahara's OEM plastic bumper with a steel one. I was wondering, after taking out the fog lights and wire harness, what do people do with the old bumper? It has been disassembled so you really can't sell it. Do people recycle it or throw it away? These things aren't really talked about when it comes to mods. Any thoughts?

If you want to reassemble it, you might get like $50-100 for it. Make sure you put in your ad that it will fit JKs too.

Gave my rear to a vet who had been rear ended.

My JL’s has been in the rafters for 3 years. So has my JK’s…..and I haven’t owned that JK in about 10 years.

Post it up on Craig’s list. There’s always someone looking to replace theirs after a fender bender.

Thanks for the ideas, everyone! Wasn't sure if anyone would want a bumper without the fogs or harness but I hadn't thought of Jeepers who need to replace their damaged plastic bumper...with another plastic bumper!!

That’s what I did with the JK one after it sat in the garage for a few years. It went in the dumpster at work.

I sold both bumpers, tow hooks and Rubi rock rails for $100. Almost wasn't worth it after putting it all back together.

I gave my old bumper to a local kid who put it on his Comanche Jeep truck. It looks good. He used the front and rear bumpers off my JLUR. I may have to snap a pic the next time I see it.

The kid is doing a nice build of the Comanche.

Craigslist or FB Marketplace.

• First try selling super cheap. There are always people looking for cheap OEM parts to replace damaged parts or for trading in.​
• If unsuccessful put it up for free.​
• Last take it to the dump.​

I had mine listed on local FB sites for $50. No takers, so I listed it "free". I was happy to give it to a fellow Jeeper for his project.

My dad has a 2001 Cherokee I was thinking to see if I could mod my plastic to fit on when my new one comes.

I threw my plastic JLUR bumpers in the trash, I kept the tow hooks though.

I am currently thinking about putting the plastic parts in my recycle bin. May drop the metal parts off at a scrap yard. Also Florida has recycling centers. I am looking at what they will take.
