Jeep has said you can run 35 with no problems stock. So I am wondering if people think that means a 3.6L v6, 4.10 gears, and 8 speed auto, will be good with 35 inch tires? If you want/expect stock lvl performance, light towing (2k pounds), and being able to go over mountain passes will this be a good choice? Or do you think you would have to regear. I have gotten the impression it will work just fine with no slow down?

I think so too. On my 08 4 dr I have stock gears 410. 315 70 tires. I tow a 3500 trailer. Up hills is a drag with the trailer but otherwise ok

I think it'll help a lot for takeoff, but I'm curious how it'll work at highway speeds on mountain passes like you mentioned. Will it slam down a few gears and shoot the RPMs up abruptly or will it be silky smooth??

Comparing the 285/70R17's Vs 315/70R17's, there's less than 2 full inches of overall diameter difference (~1.65") . So at 3000rpm, the difference in speed is low. 15 vs 16 in first. 106 vs 112 in 8th. RPM difference at 35mph is also small. 3095 in 3rd vs 2947.

I'd say the you'll notice a slight difference with the 35's. Barely detectable with a butt dyno but not worth a changing gear ratios.

If you really wanted to, maybe you could find a 4.27 ratio? That would get you back to the stock gearing. 4.56's would give you a decent bump too.

and it looks like the diesel will only have 3.73 gears, and auto 8spd. which I am guessing with all that torque will turn whatever tire yo u wanted to put on it? thoughts?
