My wife and I visited a local village to get a quick tattoo and dinner. After ordering, I had to run back to feed the parking meter and I spotted an older and somewhat restored old bronco. I was gonna follow up with a closer pic, but it was a hot day and some hot chick's walked by dressed accordingly. By the time I remembered my name and where I was, it was gone.

Not today, but we are locked down at the moment so the best I can do, A 79 series Landcruiser, a Toyota Prado and a Toyota Hilux.

It just might be worth moving to Australia just to get my hands on one of those Land Cruisers you can buy there. We only have an over priced 200 series here.

My cousin's family recently donated their one-owner 198x Bronco II to the local volunteer fire department, who will use it for extraction training. That old Ford didn't owe anyone anything, and yet the family still received offers for it that were well out of proportion to the vehicle's objective condition.

I can still remember riding in that little Ford. It was just after I did my gig for the Gulf War. I was on so-called terminal leave and driving home northbound on the East Coast. My mind wasn't yet where it was supposed to be, and I really needed family to help me decompress.

It's funny what comes to mind when glancing offhand at a random online photograph.
Must have been painful to see it go. I guess it did get put to good use though.

They are kinda cool but man, they are not cheap for what you get, the most basic interior on any vehicle for sale in Australia I'd say, welcome to the 90's ;) The also have a weird setup where the front track is a lot wider than the back, but then they sell because they are a Toyota, reliable, great resale and close to perfect as a touring vehicle if you can stand the spartan setup.

After considering the crapshow that is modern dashboards -- buggy TFT displays, oversized touchscreens with no tactile feedback, needlessly complex HVAC menus -- it's easy to conclude that simpler designs like the one quoted here are a feature, not a bug.

Modern dashboard design is here to stay, so a harmless bit of reminiscing here needn't bunch anyone's panties. 😉

If you want a chuckle check out the specs, when a locking glovebox and halogen headlamps are some of the features specifically mentioned you know there aren't a lot of features ;)

While we’re on the subject of spartan Toyotas, check out this FJ40 survivor in front of my JL awhile back…

…OK, I’m not parked next to this super clean old 40 Series truck I recently saw…but you gotta admit it does make the 70 Series look almost modern.

The Build and Price is pretty much "Choose between these three Colours" and body style. That's it, lol!

I did see quite a few of these Troop Carriers in Afghanistan and I really wanted one for myself. The Land Cruiser we did have to use (old armored 100 series) was falling apart and technically no longer authorized for use, lol.

I parked next to this well worn Willys today… or rather, he parked next to me!
