The Mazda RX7&8 I can confirm have a shift buzzer due to how smooth it pulls all the way to redline because you just cant tell its about to smack into the limiter.
At the risk of asking the obvious, wouldn't the driver want to occasionally glance at the tachometer?

Its just a reminder more than anything lol but the way they make power you dont feel the rush and then drop off like you do with a piston engine so they added it as a little tattle tale that you may want to shift soon

They sell a turn signal flasher that plays "Love me tender" (Google it). Probably won't work in newer vehicles, but I had one in my 80s Ford truck. It was fun to watch passenger's reactions when I put on my turn signal.

Here's something that does work in newer vehicles.

I think my old Mazda 2 commuter car had a light that would flash at the optimum time to change gears. No way to override but after awhile, you don't even notice. Much like that yellow pinhole light on the right side of the Jeep's cluster.

Advanced traction control is a good full time 4 wheel drive alternative. I still have oem Falken murders on my Jeep. Been rainy from the storm. Today I whipped around a FX4x4 that cut me off without their headlights and turn signal, right out of a gas station as I was heading up the hwy. None the less he was persistent in authority racing up the windy hill. He did not slow to 65MPH like everyone else though his pulling power could not compete as I blasted past at 75MPH. All the time advanced traction control kept me stable and true in the jeeps S turn acceleration, while never letting off the throttle. I felt the Jeep do a little drifting by driver seat, but nothing to let off throttle. 2 Ford kills in less than 3 months.
