Wife and I finally had a chance to go to the mountains and visit a friends property. We found a couple off-road trails that were very grown over and got in a few rough situations but made out with no problems. Of course I didnā€™t take as many photos as I should haveā€¦ But I did stop and grab a couple. The steepest spot I went it was probably 25Ā° or so. But I had at least one wheel off the ground going through some ruts at the top of that slope.

How was it towing this. I think down the road we might go the Casita route as we have fallen I love with these trailers. Itā€™s right around the max of the tow rating right? What length did you go with?

The pic is from a couple weekends ago - just havenā€™t had time to post. Got a little stuck and had to use my winch - darn... ;)

I hope that picture is before you got stuck? Because there is no mud spray everywhere and the Jeep is too clean. And before you gun it, I suggest closing the top.

MacombRoger -

I got a ā€˜spa treatmentā€™ as a reminder to close the top.... My son took this pic just as I was investigating my options and realizing that I wasnā€™t going to be able to power my way through this mud hole.

The water was an inch or 2 above the bottom of the tailgate once I started up the other side - so I can attest that there was an ample helping of mud covering the Jeep once I was done. Happy to report that the tailgate stayed water tight. Learned a valuable lesson about keeping recovery gear in the underfloor cargo tray - luckily was able to borrow a shackle rather than wade in and soak the interior....

Iā€™ll chalk getting stuck up to 1) tight quarters and fear of smacking into a tree, 2) wrong tires (thatā€™s what Iā€™m telling my wife), 3) lack of skill, and 4) new winch and a subliminal desire to get stuck... In other words - exactly as planned.

Of course the guy behind me on 37 inch mud terrains drove straight through like it was a puddle in the road.
