Happy to help @Tfom! Keep in mind that it's a seasonal waterfall. It normally flows in spring when the snow starts to melt, and sometimes in the summer when the monsoons are active, but it all depends on the year. Prior to now, it hadn't been flowing in over 15 months. I'd recommend going sooner rather than later as it's already starting to die out. It's the waterfall I was thinking of. So about 5 years ago I saw a photo of this and I wanted to go there because photography is my hobby. Wherever I was reading about it, they recommended 4wd or high clearance vehicle, which my little car was not. I had grown frustrated by all these places I read avout but couldn't go, so I told my wife (gf at the time) that I wanted my next vehicle to have 4wd. She said she wanted a convertible. That's when I started dreaming about getting a Jeep. I finally picked it up Friday. I couldn't remember the name of the waterfall, I just knew it was on the Little Colorado River. I've been thinking all this week... I have to find that waterfall.
So, thanks for helping me find it again. Now I have my jeep so I can go.
I'm well aware of the seasonality of water in AZ. I was hoping to go up when there's snow melt - if we can get some snow this year. I'll definitely check out your Instagram page.Happy to help @Tfom! Also if you want more ideas for places to take your Jeep and your camera, check out the feature page I run on Instagram: @conquerarizona I feature hot spots throughout Arizona!
Where abouts is this? I"m in North Phoenix and am always looking for fun new places to go offroading on a quick day tripTook it out on some easy AZ trails. Had time to kill and needed a reason to wash it.
Drove it out to see Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory
I used Google Maps to navigate there, however I ended up on the wrong side of the falls because the marker for it is on the opposite side of the Little Colorado River. If you go, navigate to Grand Falls Campground as that will put you on the right side. It's a easy drive there, flat dirt roads that you can cruise down. I'd recommend going soon as it's drying up quick. Hope you're able to check it out!I just found this the other day from a jeep club that I'm in and someone wanted to try set up a trip up there. DO you have the info for the trail and where it starts and what not? THanks in advance
