What did you do WITH your Jeep today.

Went wheeling in Arkansas near Mnt. Magazine to break in some new 488 gears. Did a whole slew of forest roads. Was also learning some of the fine points about the onX nav app.

Funny thing was we kept getting these pesky "Tornado watch" warnings on the Jeep Navigation screen. Our signal was so bad with phones we had no connections and so no regular news feeds like I get most times. We thought it was a glitch. (ya that was smart)

Got back this evening to discover a massive amount of tornadoes had devastated North Little Rock and North all the way to Iowa then on East.

We were riding ridges and hills within about 20 miles of the mess and had no clue. It was jaw dropping for both of us finding this out.

Beautiful day today in the Ozarks after yesterdays rain and storms. If you took a year I doubt you could run all the trails here in Western Arkansas.

onX is one fine app. Working with self downloaded sector maps. No phone or tablet service but the GPS still works flawlessly. Really dig it.

Helped a guy that thought it was a good idea to take his girlfriend for a ride off road in his Elantra. Took a wrong turn and was about a half a mile into a 2-3 rated 4x4 high clearance trail with washouts going up about a 9 deg grade. Not sure how he got as far as he did.

Played Matts off road recovery and got them to doable forestry gravel road where they were good. It was fun actually.

Took a roadtrip to New Mexico and watched the sunrise waiting in line for the gates to open to the Trinity Site.

Then headed to White Sands NP:

Then discovered I may be leaking coolant. I can't find the leak but I filled the reservoir to MIN on Wednesday and now it's back down to almost half that in 3 days.

Drove back to Michigan from Pigeon Forge in 25mph sustained crosswinds and gusts up to 52mph. Needless to say, I was all over the road and shoulder. Still maintained 17.9mpg though.

Drove back to Michigan from Pigeon Forge in 25mph sustained crosswinds and gusts up to 52mph. Needless to say, I was all over the road and shoulder. Still maintained 17.9mpg though.

I actually suspended my errand running yesterday to return home early, due to the blowing wind and rains. Wrestling with compromised visibility and the effects of the winds when driving a mobile brick convinced me to save the rest for another day.

I delayed leaving about 9 hours hoping it would get better. The rains and tornado’s stopped but that wind was unreal. A few times in Kentucky I had the steering wheel almost 90 degrees trying to stay in my lane.

Never looked at a wind report in my life till I bought this Jeep lol.

I've done that. My fraternity had sponsored a 2 mile stretch of rural road that began just at the edge of campus.

The variety of things found discarded along the side of the road, when there's time to really see it, was...interesting.

Yeah ours is a two mile strip of rural San Antonio so it’s not too bad. Mostly empty cigarette cartons/packs and bottles/cans of beer (which is slightly frightening/very sad).

My first assignment I was in San Angelo, TX and ran that AAH program there for the Squadron. We found all kinds of weird shit out there, lol. It was also rural but frequently found weird stuff like used condoms, piss bottles, underwear (men’s and women’s), random car/motorcycle parts…really odd stuff for being like 5 miles from anything. Probably why folks would go there though. No one around for miiiles.

Had to check for clearance in the rear. 1/2" or so and I'd need to trim the rear pinch seams. And the Jeep wanted its pic taken with Pike's Peak in the background.

Judging by the clear coolant tank, you have a 3.6, right? The 2.0 has a TSB but they usually have black tanks.
