A couple of years ago we drove from San Antonio to Durango and happened to be going against a big-time cold front that was roaring down from the plains. Gas mileage got super-ridiculous as we pointed north into a direct headwind of 30+ mph constant wind. After spending the night, we hung a left out of Amarillo and that wind was now from our right and, holy cow, that was brutal! Literally drove most of the day gripping the steering wheel with a hard right death grip until we were almost into Albuquerque before the crosswind finally let up. Truly the biggest impact by high winds that I've ever had in any vehicle.I decided to drive 30 miles into the sticks to my favorite gyro place and found myself driving into low visibility with some snow and serious high winds about 1/2 way there.
Holy heck she was getting pushed around when those headwinds shifted from side to side on those flat rural roads
