What did you do WITH your Jeep today.

Wanting some winter-weight oil for the Ural, I sallied forth to Vato Zone in order to check if my preferred Rotella T6 ambrosia was back in stock.



It was...for the now-princely sum of $77/gallon. Jebus.

Until T6 had become recurringly unobtanium due to supply chain issues, it had reasonable price parity with the $22/gal. T4.



As the Ural has a dry clutch, I'm not wedded to the JASO MA T6, so I bunted to some Castrol Edge "Euro Car" 5W-40.

Look closer....and you’ll see that the $76.99 price tag is for the 2.5 gallon sized container.

Recently bought some 5W40 Rotella T6 in gallon jugs for my 2022 RAM 5500 and paid about $23/gallon for it at Walllllllly HELLLLL.

I did...and the 1 gal. still rang up for $77. My protests fell on deaf ears. I was admittedly gobsmacked that the store wouldn't attend to the error. They said current demand would still get the oil sold (and I can't argue that T6 sells out quickly these days.)

Ah well.

I do check the Mart of Wal on occasion for Rotella, but they too have trouble getting it in stock.

Well.....when Auto Zone numb nuttttzzzzzz need a VIN to look up washer fluid, I’d expect nothing less than them to not be able to correct an obvious clerical error in receiving their inventory into their computer system.

Funny you should mention that. I salvaged my trip to the store by buying the last tube of red hi-temp RTV, which was on closeout for $2.50. I and the fellow in front of me in line waited forever while the store employee (who was also the Mgr.) took forever himself to install a rear wiper on a customer's vehicle.

I had a bit of sympathy for the guy because, having recently installed a rear wiper on my daughter's car, they can vary across brands and thus aren't always intuitive to put on.

Took a 101 Off Roading Course with Off-Road Consulting at Rausch Creek. These picture are just ok. I didn’t have a passenger or a mounted camera to make the documentation easier. So all the fun stuff isn’t recorded - booooo! Regardless, it was awesome. Ascents, descents, mud, water, rocks, off-camber… we covered a ton of info. Zero classroom time. 100% on the trails for 7 hours.

Headed back tomorrow for their 201 class.

This weekend a friend of mine and I hit the Corral Hollow trail and also some unnamed forrest service roads in the area.

And after a tight, windy shelf road, was rewarded with a small bridge over a river.

Went to Rocks and Valleys in Harrison, MI. Much less muddy than last time, got hung up on the concrete ramp and the rest of my group had to bounce me off that circular crossmember.

There was a guy with what looked like a JK8, truck was named “BIG IRON”. Awesome machine, anyone know him or details on his Jeep?
