Not today, but went out to KS Rocks park with the FIL and UIL over MDW. Not their first rodeo, but mine and going in with a bone stock sport I was a bit nervous. We'd had two straight weeks of rain every day, which bumped up the difficulty of even the beginner trails a bit, and our initial lack of attentiveness to navigation led us down a few intermediates that were mudpits and puddles. Still a fantastic time, and only got stuck once!

spent some time putting miles on the new 5.13 gears. About 175 miles today. Trying to get to 500 by the weekend.

I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning. And this morning me and the MOAB hung with the Blue Angels at practice in Pensacola.

I have been there and watched the Blue Angels practice. What and awesome sight. When in that area, we usually stay on Orange Beach, Alabama. I think some of the best sunsets are on Orange beach. I have seen the Blue Angels scream down the beach from our hotel balcony.

Did you by chance for through the Aviation Museum on the base? It is pretty cool also.

As a longtime fan (see bottom pic), I enjoy watching the Blues everywhere and every time. And for those folks who can access a military base (Naval Air Station Pensacola is currently closed to the public except those with DOD or DBIDS identification), it is worth hopping in the Jeep and venturing down to the Naval Aviation Museum, which is an awesome way to spend a day or two or three (& just yards away from the Blues practice area). Business has brought me here for years (even worked with the Blues on occasion) and I have been thru the museum probably a dozen times and it never gets old. They move inventory around and there is always something new to see. Even if you can’t access the NAS, on Blue Angels practice days (check their website), you can sit outside the base and watch them roar overhead. Or better yet, rent a boat or jet ski and sit outside the base on the water and watch. I come out early before practice and bike the NAS trails, some of which run along the water. BTW, Orange Beach is very nice. Spent a day there years back and completely enjoyed it.

[That ”mess” you see here on the NAS beach is from last fall’s hurricane.]

[This C-130, part of the Blue Angels crew and affectionately known as “Fat Albert,” has been retired and replaced. It is now displayed as part of the aviation museum’s outdoor exhibits. The runway is just to the right.]

I washed the Jeep up for a night bass fishing on my buddy’s boat. Going to meet him up the lake. Loaded up ready to go already. Lol. Light on the gear for tonight. Trying my new st croix bass rod with the new shimano vanford reel. Crazy light setup. Going with him is like going with a guide. Non stop action. I swear he can talk to fish. Then the Jeep going on it’s first road trip to topsail nc for the week and hopefully daily surf fishing from the house!
Almost a year of having it and everyday when I get in to drive it feels like the first time. Can’t believe I wait my whole life to own one. I think I missed out on a lot!

Man my favorite drive. Route 1 and 101 especially through Oregon! We have to get out there again. My dad talks about it weekly. I think that is his way of hinting.
