did some exploring around the local mountains. So many forest roads to learn about. But a few of the top trails are closed for the winter :-(

It was more of testing how wide tires perform in the snow and 2wd. 1st time driving jeep in the snow, had to see if it would be safe for my wife in 2wd (it's a PITA to shift to 4hi) . Have dedicated winter car with AWD, but it's always good to know if we are to take jeep out.

Thinner tires are generally better when driving in/through snow. What was your takeaway regarding the performance of the large tires on your JLU?

A short and mildly firm pull on the lever puts my Wrangler in 4HI every time. Does yours have significantly more resistance?

Yes, it takes a firm pull to get to 4hi, my wife has abit of a difficulty doing it. And my shifter knob comes off if you are to pull up on it during the process (need to look into on how to tighten it)

I do have stock 255 Sahara wheels and tires and narow tires always best for snow, especially slush. I was surprised with these 295 wide Cooper Discover AT3 tires. Braking was good, acceleration in 4hi good as well. 2wd, more then light acceleration from the stop would set off traction (which is expected). I am sure 255 wrangler discovery would do better, and if this vehicle was only option to drive , I would switch out wheels/tires (probably would have winter tires, as I do with with both of my current SUVs).

Me and the wife went out Christmas Day and played in the mud...I hate mud.......also tried out the catch can.... seems to be working, no smoke show today.

This past weekend I loaded up and grabbed a buddy on the way to get our first badge in Bridgeport, Texas. Northwest OHV Park at Endeavor. Got to take the kids for their first outing.

Took the ladies out to a nice trail this morning - it was about 30 degrees today but no wind, so even though we hiked for almost an hour, it was pretty comfortable - supposed to be ice/snow Wednesday and Thursday so I thought I’d run them outside as much as I could this week

Went up to the snow. Uncomon for my area and even Cal Trans found the going slippery.

Folks around here have issues with snow.
