Here I am on the shore of one of the Finger Lakes, doing a bit of Spring camping a few years ago. I had the entire State Park to myself that evening. Yes, it was cool overnight, but I was well-kitted for it and the wholesale absence of humanity was a reward in itself.

I'm not an introvert, but I've always been content with my own company and so traveling in this manner is easy for me.

Went riding at Tray Mtn in N Ga. In the video the silver wrangler coming towards us goes off to the right. He floors it and goes through a mud hole. You can hear the splash and someone yell ‘you dumb SOB’. I looked to my left and the person yelling was on the ground- he fell out of the Jeep

Old dale road trail.. normally people take gold crown road to old dale road to the mines exist the south entrance of Joshua tree .

but the way I took it was south entrance … of Joshua tree and old dale road started 15 minute into the entrance .. and then 30-45 minute later it get crazy as you drive up to the mines.

Looks awesome. I was out in JT this weekend as well. I was hoping to hit some trails but my trail buddy bailed on me last minute. Did some great hiking instead and camped in the park.

Ran Minden Hydroline (Scotch Line) on Saturday. Days before, we got a trail report that someone had put homemade spike strips in the water hole at the entrance and dropped +7 pounds of nails all over the trail.

Smooth run and I didn't spot any more hazards dropped. If I found out what idiot local decided the trail wasn't for public use...

That was a fun trail in Joshua Tree. Love the rocky section mid trail.

We went to Jeep Adventure Academy this weekend, about 40 Jeeps total. These were supposed to be but were not beginner trails compared to what I have seen in videos. Very muddy, rutted and hidden rocks (scraping...) plus narrow trails (only a few inches on each side for trees). Some fairly steep rocky climbs / descents on the second trail. Definitely got use out of the wheel rash rings and stock armor. I am glad I added the crossbar that the manual doesn't have, definitely helped. We had a blast!

I drove the perfectly coiffed Offspring to the county PENNDOT Driver License Center, her camera card in hand, so that she could have her photo taken for her license renewal. Saturday mornings are dreadfully busy there, and nothing moves quickly, so we made an early departure.

The parking lot was curiously underpopulated when we arrived. Turns out, the office is closed today in recognizance of the Columbus Day holiday on Monday. No, I can't make sense of that either.

Other people were also arriving, only to discover the same as we did: the closure was functionally unannounced, thus wasting the time of everyone who had done as we did this morning. I'd wager that's going to continue until 4ish PM, the regular closure time.

This thread is far too positive, with too many photos that plainly illustrate folks actually enjoying themselves, so I felt compelled to add a pinch of reality to reset one's expectations.

Finally! I actually have something to share that we did today! After 4 months we joined quite a number of other jeeps and found a puddle to play in, plus we got to drive all over a small ski hill in the Midwest.

Edited to add that it is amazing how capable this near stock machine is. I watched so many people fail at the obstacles in front of me that I almost didn't attempt some. However, with a little planning and proper application of torque, Darkside ate up every challenge we encountered.

I went with a small group and ran Lockwood and Miller Jeep Trail. This is a moderate to difficult trail that seems to change from year to year. It was also my JL’s first trail, with only 640 miles on it. It did great. Everything functioned as it was supposed to without any delay on the electronics. I was also surprised to learn the auto swaybar disconnect re disconnects if you drive too fast, causing it to connect. Lockers worked quickly and flawlessly when needed, too. I am a little disappointed in the front camera brightness when there are shadows, but that’s not a huge deal. Overall, I am very happy with my new Jeep!

This was actually the other day but I needed a day to recover and fight off the cold I was close to getting from this run

a friend and I headed up the backside of Mt Lemmon — a nice easy drive outside of Tucson, AZ. She’d recently had her new PSC installed for her diesel so it was a good shake down run.

Was a nice beautiful day in the low 80s at the base of the mountain.

My friends jeep started acting up. Refused to turn right. Ended up having to do a 3-point turn on every switchback. Then before long it wouldn’t even turn at all. So we were able to get it pulled over to the side of the trail where there luckily happened to have an extra wide spot. We had 3 more miles to go. We were at 6,000ft. Turns out the new PSC was leaking power steering fluid.

She had 1 bar of service (I had none—thanks AT&T ) (fyi—-if you’re ever out in AZ Verizon has far superior service out here than AT&T). She was able to get ahold of some friends and they came out to our rescue.

did I mention that thunderstorms were all around us…and my jeep was topless and doorless? Haha. So yep… an hour drive back
Down the mountain we went in my jeep waiting for help to arrive.

Help finally arrived from Phoenix around 8:30 at night. Then back up the mountain an hourdrive.

Wasn’t too hard a fix once they got things tightened down.
We made it up the top of the mountain (8,000ft) in 47° weather with us in tank tops, shorts, and flip flops (we didn’t prepare) and down into Tucson. Finally. Made it back to Phoenix at 2:45am. In 67°. What was supposed to be a quick trip turned into another sort of adventure. But Jeeping friends are the best!
