Retired from Corrections....I have stories.
Used the JLUR to slip away for the weekend with my wife and some friends to do some boondock camping. I know where there is a great spot on a lake.

We brought the chairs down to the waters edge for sunset. It did not disappoint.

My wife has been a little stir crazy (as opposed to the just normal crazy) so I took her to lunch out on the trail, at Briggs Camp. Briggs Camp is an old mining cabin that is cared for by some off-roading clubs under the adopt a cabin program. It's a nice little oasis on the edge of Death Valley in South Park canyon.

After lunch and relaxing in the cool shade for awhile we continued to the top of South Park Canyon and go down Pleasant Canyon two canyons over, this is known locally as the "Pleasant Canyon loop". There's a ton of mining history and ruins in this area, makes for a nice day trip. It's about a 42 mile loop and takes around 8 hours depending on how many stops you make and what your tolerance level is for getting beat up in your Jeep. It's not a difficult trail, just consistently rough enough that you will be sore the next day. Here's a few other pics:

Sorry I didn't get more pics of the trail, I'll try better next time.

I took the @Stormin’ Moorman challenge... Headed out to Uwharrie and hit the trails on a weekday. We pretty much had the place to ourselves.

I swear I didn't cheat on my NCRC brethren .... this was impromptu! Don't break up with me.

After... It may not look like it... but these things are dirty.

I've a long weekend camping trip planned, towing the Ural, so today was a shakedown run with the recently restored trailer sporting new shoes.

I love the smell of new tires in the morning. That smell, you know, that vulcanized rubber smell.
Smells like...eBay.

I love the smell of jet fuel in the morning. And this morning me and the MOAB hung with the Blue Angels at practice in Pensacola.
