Looks like you took off a lot of the plastic trim. I am doing the same. Do you have any hints for the rear dome light or hiding/protecting some of the other wires?

Was yesterday but went for a quick drive down one of the trails around here, came across someone’s litter on the trail. Makes me mad finding discarded tacos on the trail like that, dispose your Toyota’s properly people :CWL:

We went over Medano Pass this past weekend; an annual trip for us. The road crosses Medano Creek nine times, but this time of the year, these crossings are very shallow. The creek is pretty much non-existent down by the dunes.

This year we crossed west-to-east, deflating at Point of No Return. It has been very dry, so the sand was loose and fairly deep in places. Though Wesley (our JLU) wallowed and slip-slid in a few places, we had no 'issues' in the sand. Our first photo is near the turnoff from US 160 to CO 150, which is the entrance road to Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve. That's Blanca Peak in the background, 4th highest in the Rockies at 14,351'.

The road - the primitive road, not 150 - was closed for a few weeks earlier in the summer, due to washouts from some rather violent thunderstorms. NPS did a good job getting that repaired.

The rocky sections seemed rockier than in years past. We actually scraped the skid plate a couple of times. We met about half a dozen vehicles coming down while we were going up. All agreed that the road seemed rougher in the rocky sections. Still, our unlifted JLU Sport had no real troubles.

Currants and huckleberries were knee-deep in some places, along with bear scat. Sadly, we saw no bruins stuffings themselves in preparation for winter. If you go into this area, be sure to have a canister of bear spray. Colorado's black bears are not Yellowstone or Montana grizzlies, but they are hefty and possessive of their berry patches..

The aspens have not yet started to turn at the lower levels; we saw a few turning up near the crest of the pass.

We pumped up at the intersection of 559 and CO 69 before venturing back onto the pavement.

I thought about driving up with just a shade but left the top on. Will post pictures when I get home. My son and I are going to hit a few trails tomorrow.
