What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Finished my fender chop and installed the Motobilt front inner fender liners I had them color matched and wrapped them in 3m film.

Installed Diode Dynamics SS3 Sport fog lights and a Diode Dynamics SS6 light bar. My LED headlights were so bright they drowned out the fog and light bar lights, I put my halogen head lights back in. 1. Head lights 2. HL and fog 3. HL, fog, bar, 4. HL, bar 5. Bar 6. Bar, fog 7. Fog. The headlights and light bar were not aimed. I aimed them later and was pleased with the results. I have Diode Dynamics SS3 Pro Combo lights for the cowls coming next week and may add another light bar for the front to get a better spread. I was never into lights until this JL with aux switches.

Looks nice, I think I’d aim the bar up a little? Maybe it’s the pictures

Today I installed two things. First was the Factor 55 Flatlink E shackle on the winch.

The second was a pair of Rigid LED D-SS Pro driving lights on the overrider bar on my Rugged Ridge Venator front bumper. I’ll be doing some adjustment / aiming later in the week.

It’s just a cheap Amazon electric one. Does have the air pump but I wouldnt say it’s “train loud“...more like “semi truck loud”

I took off the factory plastic bumper...

And installed a Rugged Ridge HD full width bumper...

I made a start installing my winch, but I ran out of daylight, and I ran out of energy.

One of the things that held me up was these extra support brackets. The bolts on the new bumper would not go through. The bolts on the old tow hooks would not go through either. What the hell? Then I finally figured out what the deal was. Took them off, and was kind of disappointed that I didn't have an excuse to use my machine shop for anything. I just made some judicious adjustments with a big dead blow hammer.

I ran into lots of angle and clearance problems getting everything fastened, and I actually fired up the Industrial Air compressor, and hit some things with the air ratchet. The only reason I bought an air ratchet was to use it to speed operation of the drawbar on my Grizzly g0704 mill. I didn't actually expect to use it on a vehicle, but it ended up proving quite useful.

If it doesn't rain, I will have this build finished soon. I need to finish up mounting the winch, and I'm waiting on a replacement hawse fairlead that will actually fit my front license plate flip-up bracket. I've also got a skid plate coming.

So far, so good. I think I made a good choice on this bumper. It looks awesome, and it's a lot more substantial. It's crazy that I had to remove like 387 different fasteners to get the wiring harness out of the original bumper.

Also, if anybody does this, I had to peel apart the factory harness, and just barely managed to stretch everything far enough to work. I had to get creative, and I damn near resorted to cutting into the harness to splice in some extension wire. Luckily, I was able to avoid that. I do good wiring work, but it's always better to avoid hacking into a factory harness whenever possible.

Thanks @mikej ! I understand exactly what you are talking about. I installed my shelf last week and had the same problem but I too thought it would be secure enough to rest on the shelf above the PT cradle. My top is currently off so I wasn't able to test it with the top on and assumed it wouldn't fit without removing the PT handle. If you have time, can you shoot me a couple photos of how it rests on your shelf and the clearance to the roof?

It’s a tight fit. The handle contacts my sound panel, but doesn’t press into it. Here’s a few pictures that should help.

Power washes the jeep after mudding. It’s a real PITA that I kinda feel mudding isn’t worth it .. but it was pretty fun.
