Bumper showed up today. Just installed it on my jeep and added the Harbor Frieght Alex winch. I will say it was a PITA to get together. I had to get the bumper on first, the. Squeeze the winch through. It was a tight fit and ended up scratching the winch a bit but it’s small.

Tomorrow I have to wire the winch but otherwise all done.

Oh and the skid plate. I’ll do that tomorrow too.

I also had to modify the winch to get the wire to work with the grill. I ended up moving it to the side and I’ll need to add some silicon or something to keep water out.

Dirty Life. Some of the cheapest bead locks around as far as I can tell, and they look good!

Ok, first things first... I'm writing this via a cell phone, so excuse anything that seems out of place, etc., etc., as the image inserts work weird sometimes.

I've been working on a 12v box for the past two months. One that would allow for easy connections from within the cab, drivers side doors and ve out of the way while integrating into my current platform layout, etc.

All I can say is ideas change!

I started with the basic idea of tying a box to the MPS Wheel Well Molle Panels in the back of the Jeep. Mainly because it's an accessible location and I already have a very basic system connected there (image below).

The initial design included some spare 12v panels and parts from a previous build. I figured these would work fine and accomplish most of the build.

Shortly after I figured out the wiring would be tight.

So, I removed the Panels and changed them out to smaller pieces as well as moving the connections to the front as well as the side.

This allowed quick connections to from the rear drivers door as well as connections from within the rear cab.

To fill the empty space I decided to order a pair of cheap shunts to monitor both charge and load side of the battery.

This didn't work out
Again, the wiring was just too tight.

So, I replaced the two monitors with a single BMV-712 and proceeded to build the final version out of 1/2in birch plywood.

This changed things again, as the front was still just too busy. So, I changed out the number of ports and added a junction box as well as rear anderson connections (not shown).

After routing wires and accounting for opening / closing issues, it was ready for carpeting.

Upon installing into the Jeep, I found that the protected Dometic 12v box (bottom of image above) wasn't going to work. So, I changed it out for another free standing 12v connectors shown in the image below.

Note: The box attaches to the molle panel via strips of industrial velcro. Super simple and allows for quick removal if needed.

My GMRS attaches to the other side of the MPS Panel sitting between the panel and carpeted side of the Jeep. It fits perfectly and is completely hidden out of the way.

The other auxiliary pieces connected to the three switches connect via small anderson connects in the rear. This cleans things up and allows for quick connection changes if needed.

There is a solar input connection (not shown in images) that also connects via the rear of the box via anderson connectors. Again, this was designed for quick connect/disconnect operations.


All in all, I've got a few different improvements but it's working perfectly and the blank space on the box allows for easy attachments of velcro items. So, that's turned out to be a great design choice

Well pulled the trigger on my Retirement 2021 Rubicon Billet Silver. Ordered it on January 11th.

Came in on Feb 26th but My Vapor Pro Fuel Wheels were on backorder. They came in Saturday and took Jeep back Monday. They finished this morning. Picked her up after they did window tint last.

Removed Stock Rubicon Wheels and tires and put Toyo Open Country M/T 35/12.50/20 with Vapor Pro Fuel wheels 20"

Installed Mopar 2.0 lift with Fox Shocks. Lifted 3-4 inches but will settle some.

Cold Weather Group. LED light group. 8.4 Alpine Premium Audio Group/Nav

Hardtop Headliner by Mopar. Stainless Door Sill by Mopar.

All-weather floor mats by Mopar.

The Mojave Off-road Plus Mode added this year to Rubicon.

The onboard water is a FrontRunner 10gal Tank that sits in the middle of the Jeep just behind the front seats and under the platform.

You can see the tank in the back. Took this a while back while making a few changes to the platform, so just imagine a small bit of flexible piping going from the tank to the back.

I have it wired to a small pump that turns on when we use an RV faucet in the back. It just sits in a drawer with a cutout for a collapsible bin.

I would highly recommend an amber spot/flood combo. Amber cuts through dust better than white light, and you'll be covered for both near and mid field illumination. The amber light also gives a more high definition view of the surroundings.

A couple pics. First is with a pair of dedicated white spots and a set of floods aimed about 45° to the sides. Second is one pair of amber combo lights.

Any suggestions on how to Sell the New Rubicon Wheels and BFG 33's 285/70/17 AT tires. Plus I kept the Rubicon Shocks and Springs etc they removed for the Mopar lift.
They have only 28 miles driven.
