ATTEMPTED to install a MORE Dead Pedal, but after 2 hours of frustration, I finally gave up.

Firstly, the driver side footwell is ridiculously cramped. I could not fit down there; had to work using only my right hand.

Secondly, this dead pedal is a lot more convoluted than the one-piece pedal I installed on my JKs. There’s a retainer that mounts from the backside of a kick panel reinforcement, which fell behind the kick panel several times. There’s also a wiring harness that runs alongside the kick panel cover, which the install sheet does not even mention, but won’t let the pedal fit unless I cut the plastic retainers and reroute the wiring.

After battling the cramped space and the retainer falling behind the kick panel several times, to adjust how far back-forward you want the pedal to be you have to completely remove the pedal and repeat the installation process from the start. Pfff...!
IMO, to do this installation properly, you’d have to remove the driver seat to gain access, remove the kick panel cover, cut the electrical wiring retainers, reroute the wiring, mount the pedal, adjust the pedal and repeat the installation procedure until you are satisfied, and put everything back together. I wasn’t prepared to do all that for a dead pedal, so it goes back to Quadratec.

Agree as well. If I had the factory steel bumper, would have bolted on that Maximus 3 in a second! Great product.., but stupid a$$ plastic bumper tilted me towards the Smittybilt (still super happy with the SB Stryker, and would continue to recommend if you are upgrading OEM plastic). . Also really liked the ARB set up.., and just too bad AEV apparently does not want to do anything for the JL platform... The AEV JK bumpers (especially front) are sweet! Just love the options available to the Wrangler line... Good stuff..... Going to take the aftermarket folks years to get that much gear designed for the Bronco.

Mid 70's in Northeast Ohio in November is a gift. No Browns either, so a nice full day outside (leaves and cars (and some sauce too)).

<snip>
I have a dead pedal, new in the box, that's still in the box. I like the idea of having one (thus my purchase), but posts like yours mean I'm in no hurry to attempt installation. I don't have the M.O.R.E. pedal, but what I bought is functionally identical because the mounting location severely limits design variances.

More to the point: I like having the ability to use the firewall as a de facto dead pedal (I'm long of leg). As my return window has expired, the pedal may stay in the box for the indeterminate future. We'll see.

Even though the weather was almost 80 in Southern Indiana, I didn’t get to get the doors off. But I did install the CMM mounts and test fitted the mirrors in the lower position. Also got a hard shell box to store the mirrors on when not in use.

Try this pull the string up and out to align the bolts. Put the nuts on and tighten, cut the string. I have done2 this way, 10 min tops.

I might flip to the lower mounts. I did the whole summer with them on the high side but felt like they were in my field of view at times.

I figured I would start with them in the low position based on what members recommended. Also makes sense being there closer to the door mirror position. You just lose the CMM logo but don’t bother me. Unfortunately, it will be awhile before I test them out as we just started with colder temps (with a couple day exceptions)
