What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

Not today, but Friday....... It has been a busy weekend.


Started at approx 630 am. I was under the Jeep wrenching and the sun was shining on the front tire with the flag in the back ground. I took it as a good sign that my day of working on the Jeep would be productive.

I replaced an electrical component in the rear diff that was causing a Service Axle Locker warning light. Then changed the oil, air filter, cabin filter and put front and rear brake pads on the JLUR. Then took a torque wrench to all the suspension bolt, shock bolts and the bead lock bolts.

Prepping for a 5,000 mile wheeling trip.

Added Rough Country oil pan/transmission + transfer case skid system. Really like how the bolts are recessed and it provides a flat profile for sliding. Wanted extra protection especially considering the 6 speed doesn't come with a front crossmember like the automatics.

Then went on a challenging ride at Big Fork on Signal Mtn with 2 gladiator rubicons to test them out...thunderstorm hit mid ride making it slick. Long wheel base + automatic transmission on gladiators was helpful on these technical climbs where you needed momentum bumping over in several cases...Definitely required lockers.

Went to the beach. Saw some bikinis. While topless noticed a noise from my steering at low speeds.

Spent Sunday night trying to track down noise. Seems to be from my steering box itself (removed drag link so just the pitman arm moving) and still the noise.

Anyone have a factory steering box have such a problem yet?

Nicely done!

Thanks! Installing the Next Venture RDS requires a little patience, dexterity and a couple of 'damms' while getting the flag nut sticks aligned and started but the result is well worth it!

Mind sharing how you mounted the rear cam? I have the same setup but found there's no good way to securely mount it and have a good view because of the angle of the camera's bracket.

I installed a smart rearview mirror that acts as a front and rear dash cam. It's nice not seeing my headrests in the rear view mirror whenever I look back!

Big brown truck just dropped off my LOD Destroyer shorty rear bumper............... Having gone through the unpacking process twice already with my front bumper and rock sliders, I decided to go in a different direction for unpacking this time.......

For those of you that have LOD products , I know you understand...... I’m not worried about hurting the bumper, @lodoffroad , products are bomb proof........
