Installed and wired in my phone mount. Vent mount base from Offroam, and phone holder from 67 Designs.

You can pop the dash and run the cable behind your dash to the same place.

Do you mean using the media ports on the dash? Yeah, you can do that much easier but I want to leave those open for passenger use and I don’t like wires hanging out of those all the time.

I installed the DV8 tailgate shelf/table.

I looked at some of the others. There were some very nice ones but the prices were ... out there. All I wanted was a simple shelf, not something NASA would bid on for the ISS. I looked at the MOPAR, which is not too shabby a design and construction. Then I looked at the DV8, which is almost a copy of the MOPAR, but about 40 bux less.

Both are overpriced, when you come right down to it. But looking at the cheaper items out there ... well ... they were ... cheap.

The installation is straightforward. There is no instruction sheet, but this install video of a MOPAR item works just fine:

Some differences:

The MOPAR apparently uses TORX screws. The DV8 uses hex head screws.

The latches are placed slightly differently. The DV8's are on the lip of the shelf, where the MOPAR's are on the bottom as you can see in the install video. The DV8 latches are slightly less robust than the MOPAR latches but not wretchedly so. They work, snugly, and there is no rattling or play.

The DV8 shelf installs with the lip up. That's a PITA. But, it is easily reversed, though to do so necessitates the drilling of new holes. Remove the latch mechanism, and drill a new hole the same distance from the radius of the bend as is the original hole from the edge of the lip.

The install takes about 30 minutes.

One last observation - there's no way this thing will take 100 pounds. The MOPAR claims 20. That seems reasonable. 20 pounds is actually quite a bit, come down to it.

5 tire rotation plus got bored and tossed 2 of 4 metal cloak door steps on. Still waiting to win the frontrunner rack (yay!) or their fathers day sale to buy (boo!) one.

....so yeah, nothing to step up to yet.

Have two more, but didn't want to be the 4 step-no-rack guy. I can deal with the stares and laughter from kids for the two.

This still working great? I am picking this up!
I installed one about two weeks ago - works great. It does take some contortions to get under the dash to install but not too hard. Dead pedal was a bear to install compared to this.
