What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

I'm sometimes mildly envious of the accessories that soft top owners can't install due to the presence of relevant door molding and folding frame hardware. This is one of those times.

Actually, on the Steinjager website they show how to install it. Just drill a hole in the plastic support, I plan on doing that for when I use the soft top.

Replaced the instrument cluster and passenger side air bag panels. When we picked up our MY2021 JLURXR in January the passenger side air bag panel was damaged. It is a small nick, though I see it everyday, a glaring defect, (zoom in if needed). Our dealer offered to replace it and we negotiated a deal to upgrade to the Sahara trim level to match our dash and the white stitched dark saddle leather seats.

Since then we have been waiting for the panels to come in and a little more as the first two sets were broken, or two passenger pieces with no driver side. Finally, the third set to arrive was complete and looked right. We also ordered some clips in case we broke some, though apparently there are several types?

Maybe it is just the color that changes? We noticed on the video we watched to lead us through the steps that their colored clips didn't necessarily match the locations our colored clips were placed. Fortunately we didn't break or lose any, they all went back in.

Everything went smoothly and opening up the dash added ideas for some other thoughts we have for ours to power dash mounted devices and adding a mounted GMRS radio and antenna run.

The new panels look so much nicer than the plastic ones and they match the dashboard and additional trim pieces well. Our cabin experience will be much more pleasant now.

Having a relationship with a solid local dealer and a kick ass salesperson makes such a difference—

Here is my installation of the MORryde overhead flip down lock box

Originally this was designed to fit the JK put I retrofitted to fit the JL Wrangler
The first thing is to remove the hard top so you can get access to the top of the roll bar
I drilled out the pivot rivets on the hinges on the box and replaced them with 1/4 bolts and lock nuts
I drilled 2 hole for the original hinges and then added 2 more where it is bolted to the top of the roll bar
I installed threaded inserts in the 4 holes on the roll bar and bolted it on
Then I put the hard top back on
I added spacers under the hinges to move the box up as far as possible and also had to cut away the corners under the hinges on the box to clear the lower plastic pieces on the roll bar
The original rear support bar that the kit comes with will not work on the JL so I made my own
I remove the 2 plastic pieces on the roll bar to gain access to 4 threaded holes on the roll bar
I used the 2 lower holes for support rods using threaded rod, coupler nuts and lock nuts
To support the upper part of the box I bolted on the bracket that come with the kit that was designed for there lower hinge for there support rod
I added two support rods with pull out pins at the top
As you drop down the box it will now hit the threaded rod and coupler nut make a solid stopping point
With out some sort of stopping point the box will swing forward and back making it hard to use
I also reversed the door hinges so that the door would open all the way and not bind
Required drilling out all hinge rivets putting the hinges on outside of the door and putting a 3/16 shim under the hinge on the plastic box side
I only carry recovery gear in the box so I will only be dropping it down in rare situation

Got an Amazon brand shade so now I can actually enjoy being topless all the time.

Put on my JLUR 4XE suspension yesterday (gave me roughly 2” lift up front and 3” lift in the rear).

Then picked up my new-to-me 35s today.

Can’t wait to get them installed soon. Hopefully tomorrow but might be Monday.

Mm. Reminds me of my hard-fought victory with a hidden zerk.

P.S. -- I didn't have bad aim with the needle nose adapter. The fresh grease had oozed out of the bearing cap assembly, indicating success.
