Not sure where you are going to put your G-screen. I don't recommend putting it above the mirror. I spent more time doing that than I did installing the rest of it.I added a new Genesis Offroad dual battery set-up yesterday. Last week I went to start my Jeep and no go, I noticed a sluggish start a few days prior. I had opted out of a Death Valley trip with a small group and realized I would have been stranded on the trail had I gone, (I'm sure I could have figured out something).
I thought I better at least call the local Jeep dealer and have them look at it, as it is an expensive vehicle. They said at 40k miles I am just out of warranty, I made an appointment for Saturday morning anyway. I was told if it is the ESS battery that went bad I'm looking at maybe $450-$500 bill. I had already been drooling on the @Genesis Offroad dual battery kit, and thought it might be better if I put the dealer visit cost toward the kit and a pair of Odyssey batteries, which would put me in a better position to hook up up accessories, and have the option to run lights, stereo and whatever else in camp without worry, and even have the option to jump start myself if needed.
I purchased the kit on Thursday and the batteries on Friday, everything arrived on Saturday! Install video was spot on, it took me about 3 1/2 hours but I was being careful. There is a little wrestling with the OEM tray and there is some time spent on grooming the wires back into place.
When finished, I jumped in the Jeep, crossed my fingers and it fired right up. Everything was fine, no codes or issues. I had to re-program radio stations and U-Connect and go through and change some settings on the display. The Off Road Pages did not run right away, but loaded after 20 minutes. I have the Tazer Mini and all of it's settings stayed the same, did not need to un-marry it before pulling out the stock batteries. Super satisfied with the plug and play aspect of this kit, mounting tray is solid, am thinking of making a little cover for the top as another member has here. I am glad I waited to install my winch, which will now be a breeze.
I also opted for the G-Screen, and will install that next week. Need to order a handful of spare fuses and relays!
Which one did you get? Finally got around to purchasing a cordless impact and swapped out my steering stabilizer and track bar. What a difference! I mean using an impact as well as the ride...
We were the opposite way! Broke a few things before we realized that you can change it!Funny story about an impact gun. My son bought me one of the Milwaukee 1/2 Impact guns for Christmas. It has 1400 FT LBS of torque. I am a man and of course did not read the instructions. While helping install a lift kit, I thought the battery was dead and did not bring another one with me. Well the battery was not dead, there are four different torque setting. I must have bumped it to the lowest setting and I was able to stop it with my hand. It was not until a couple days later that I noticed that there was buttons to adjust the torque setting.
Looks outstanding!New wheels, thanks to @Don and @Matt @Discount Tire, Fuel Vector in gun metal, 17x9 -12 offset. Also added some self recovery, and knocked the pollen off with a quick wash.
I am extra careful when using it. I like the fact that after it breaks a bolt or nut free, it uses torque sensing and slows down so that it does not spit the bolt or nut across the garage. We were the opposite way! Broke a few things before we realized that you can change it!
I miss Arizona sometimes, haven't been back to Phoenix in about 12 years to visit my family. Where in Phoenix are you, my family is around 43rd Ave & Cactus.Got all stripped and went for a drive through the countryside (ok...only a little countryside and a lot of highway) to go spend the day at a river.
A few things I learned this trip...dust just lives in the air out here in AZ. Somehow managed to get a light layer of dust on everything just driving down the interstate. Also, for all those that like to go on about how you lose gas mileage with bigger tires (which I haven’t upgraded yet) I’ll see you those big tires and raise you going naked. I lost 2-3mpg. Getting blown all which way. Especially driving down the AZ highway between Phoenix and Sedona...can you say wind tunnel. Gusts so strong would literally take your breath away...even as you’re driving 80+ down the highway. Props to my Quay sunglasses though. Those things didn’t budge.
Not sure how long it’ll stay this way though. Sadly, I drive 7 miles down a dirt road to work each day and I’m already sick of all the dust haha
A few pics of the River I took the Jeep to.
My lunch and swim spot.
Aren't they the bee's knees? Love my M12 Fuel 1/2" impact. Finally got around to purchasing a cordless impact and swapped out my steering stabilizer and track bar.
