What did you do TO your Jeep JL today?

I wired up the halo rings in the headlamps, the halo rings of the fog lamps, and the white switchback, into a dedicated daytime running light (DRL) circuit.

Power for the DRL leeches off the 20 amp heated seat circuit in the fuse box with a micro 2 fuse blade tap.

The wires were brought in (and back out) through the firewall using the small pencil-sized hole in the rubber grommet behind the glove compartment.

The wiring took a short hour. Getting the wires through the firewall took a long day.

The lights in the picture comprise the DRL - taking power on the accessory circuit, and turned on/off via a dedicated switch on the inside panel.

Repaired my damaged rear flare today.

I know it's no big deal, but it gave me a reason to tear apart the rear flare and learn about how they're installed.

I hit a piece of plastic trim on the highway a few weeks ago. I couldn't avoid it and it gouged my painted rear fender and plastic molding.

Took it off, separated the painted flare from the plastic molding, had flare repainted for $80. Sanded plastic molding smooth in damaged area, cleaned, painted with Rust-oleum Texture. Then reattached newly painted flare to molding and put back on Jeep.

Three lessons learned:
1. If you’re going to be reinstalling an OEM fender flare, you don’t need to take the inner fender liner out. Just drill out the plastic rivets and pop out the two plastic push pins at the two ends. Leave the rest attached. Including drilling, the flare was off in 5 minutes.

2. Cheapo generic fender clip and rivet kits from Amazon or eBay work fine and are far less expensive than Mopar replacements.

3. Gorilla Glue expands and dries white. I had to glue a small part of the molding to the underside of the flare because I broke off a tab and there was a visible gap. It expanded into the gap and showed white so I paintbrushed it with satin black. Overall, it looks pretty good for an $90 repair.

Added some flair on the outside and a neoprene cover for the center console to give it a little color inside. Went with the Mopar tailgate table after an attempt with a knock off from Amazon. You definitely get what you pay for.

No Pictures but after 1 1/2 years with a cracked windshield I finally got it replaced not because of the crack but because the pitting was outrageous! $219 for non-oem. then spent Saturday hunting down a knock in the rear end when turning... The scissor jack came loose and was sliding a round, WTH I felt like an A$$ hat!
