I had my chipped windshield fixed this morning. Thankfully it didn’t spread to a large crack. This time ;)

I had a Yakima Double-Down 4 bike rack that I wanted to use to take the kids’ bikes to the beach but it obstructed the spare and swing gate. Found a 4” drop hitch at Home Depot and it allows the swing gate to open freely now:

Just some friendly advice especially if you are using a drop receiver. Because the receivers have a little play (wobble) and especially when you add a 2nd sleeve it compounds the wobble you need/should add a hitch tightener this will help prevent damage to the bike rack and bikes due to all the slack in the receiver connections. this is only $15 ( I use this for anytime I carry or tow with my receiver, at the very least put it on one of the connections if not both this will make the bike rack a solid connection.

Dropped off my boys at summer camp this morning... finally got a chance to test out my new EAG doors. Love em. My boys did too. They were laughing and giggling despite the 59 degree weather LOL. I told them, “that’s the Jeep life baby!!!” :)

Thanks for the advice. It looks like you would need to loosen those two bolts on the tightener and then pull the hitch pin to get it all off. With my setup, the Yakima rack has a threaded hitch pin so it is secured to the drop hitch with no wobble and I plan to get a hardened 5/8" bolt with nylon locknut for the receiver. So It would just be pulling that one lock nut when I need to take it off. There are also other threaded hitch pins that would accomplish the same thing with a little less hardware so there are options out there.

A GREAT couple days in the garage!

  • SS TieRod
  • SS Bottom-mount drag link (with Griffin)
  • Falcon Nexus Stabilizer
  • MC Stabilizer Relocation Bracket (Axle side)
  • MC 3.5" Rocksport Gamechanger
Just need to take to local shop for tweaks and alignment.

Went a bit out of the box on this one and i'm sure it will get mixed reviews, BUT I'M DIGGING IT: wrapped the shocks in "Anodized Champage" vinyl wrap, to match the MC parts. #GetWrapped! More on my build thread, as always.

Great idea. I have ( now had) the same issue with mine. Thank you!
I had the same issue but I ordered a 18" hitch extender form etrailer which pushed it out far enough to open and didn't drop it so I maintained my clearance in the rear. Just another thought if clearance is a issue

Not Jeep related, but I did get to be a part of something really cool last night. Lucky enough to work for The Blues and went to Boston for game 7.

Whoa! So cool.

We were cheering for the Bruins (hubby is from New England), but I'm happy for the Blues to finally win. They played great hockey.

Good idea, I reckon, but there’s a much simpler solution.
I just cut a piece of hard, dense plastic to fit inside the female hitch receptacle. 1/8” was just right.
I make my own holsters and knife sheaths, so have kydex on hand, but I reckon other materials would work as well.

Finally all done! Mounted my last tire and installed @Motobilt tag relocation kit! Now all I have to do is install the light kit (electrical), fix the grommet on the tailgate, extend the bump stops, drill holes in my license plate, get a new rear bumper... yes all done, sorta!
