I’m looking to do a re-gear on my 2029 JLU Sahara. My build sheet says I have the Dana 1M186 front axle, and the Dana M220 rear axle. Under my optional equipment it says Dana M200 rear axle. Can someone identify if these are the Dana 30,35 or 44 for the rear?

The M220 rear axle is a Dana 44 (assuming your build sheet is correct).

Ok so Dana 44 rear, why under optional equipment for the 8 speed transmission does it say M200. Looks like the 44 was standard equipment and the optional 8 speed removed it for an M200?

just a guess but I think the M220 comes standard with the manual transmission. When you add the optional automatic transmission it changes the rear axle.

You could probably validate this with the build/price tool online.

Not certain, but I think M200 is a generic designation and the actual model appears on the build sheet.

You have the M200 rear. It does in fact replace the M220 when the 8-speed option is added. It's technically the Dana 35, even tho they are different and supposedlty stronger.

If your 8spd Auto had the LSD rear it would have retained the D44 M220 rear axle.

Yea just did the build option online again to confirm its the M200. I'm assuming the M186 is the standard Dana 30 for the front then?

It's quite simple:
Manual Transmission = M186 front (D30) / M220 (D44) Rear
Auto Transmission = M186(D30) front / M200 (D35) Rear
Auto Transmission with Anti-Spin Differential = M186 (D30) front / M220 (D44) Rear

Yea the m186 is the Dana 30 open diff. Just went through this with my dealership, I was under the assumption I had a 44 in the rear based on the window sticker. Someone needs to really do a better job explaining this because it is very vague based on the window sticker. Apparently none of the salesmen are aware the auto downgrades you to a 35 either

I will 100% agree with you. When I bought mine it said Dana 44 on sticker for standard equipment so that's what axel I thought it had at time of purchase. Did'nt realize till later that it got optioned lower with the 8-speed. Not that big of a deal seeing as it should be fine with how I'm using my jeep offroad, but still slightly annoying.

I agree 100% It's super frustrating, I tried to contact my dealer and they had no idea what I was talking about.

Appreciate the explanation! didn't want to order the wrong gear sets for the axles

What size tires are you running that you need to regear? I wouldn't go big on a Dana 30/35 combo.
