In January I posted: "I'm making my first off-road experience to Moab Mid August. How hard could it be?"

In March, my son the NPS Ranger in Canyonlands, said: "No. You're not" and then later "Again. No. You're not." He wouldn't elaborate more other than to say: "I love you, but no."

I thinks it's because he's got 500+ sq miles to cover rescues of bus tours and idiots in rental Corollas. And Fiery Furnace just got closed permanently due to no rangers or money. Have fun without me guys! It's bunny trails and fire roads for my summer until I get some trail "cred".

Awww. I mean there’s plenty of “trails” around Moab that are scenic and basically dirt roads you could enjoy. Do you have anyone around you could go out with to get some “trail cred” before August?

I'm an hour or two north of the Appalachias and I'll tear up some mountains this summer but with him wearing Kevlar in 100F temps this August, I'm the last thing he wants to deal with. He's a federal agent and could have me banned. They'd never find me. I'll get there. Don't you worry. ;)

I was really bummed to read about Fiery Furnace. I hope they open it up again one day. It's definitely on my bucket list of hikes.

What bus tours are going out into the middle of nowhere around Moab in August???? I bet your son has a lot of crazy stories to tell.

We can't do any multi month trips this year as my wife is a caregiver for her mom and her mom needs daily help. This is killing us because we usually leave on Dec 26th and head to the Southwest to wheel for months. We are kinda restricted to about two or three week of traveling at a time before it becomes a big burden on my wife's brothers and sister. They still work full time jobs.

So things we already have planned. At the end of February, we are flying to Anchorage Alaska. the crew from Trail Toyz Off-Road in Wassail Alaska. called us and said, "You and Carla have to come up for winter wheeling in the mountains and on the Glaiciers." They followed up with, just get here. We will pick you up from the airport. We will put you up in an apartment and give you a vehicle to wheel." How do you turn that down. So we booked a flight from Lansing, Michigan to Anchorage Alaska. We wheeled with them over the summer and had am awesome time. We expect to see and wheel things like this.

I would like to get to SMOOR Off Road Park, Then to Georgia and South Carolina to get those badge trails sometime late spring.

We are doing three weeks in Colorado in August. We will be camping and have a week in an Air B&B in Silverton Colorado. There are four JLUR and one Gladiator with campers going. The Air B&B has been paid for. Carla and I are the only ones that have wheeled in Colorado.

Then late September or early October, we will probably head to the North East to see the colors in New Hampshire and Maine. There is some hiking in Arcadia National Park that we want to do. Plus pick up the badges in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania. This would them leave me with only one badge trail left to get. I am not sure if I will ever be able to get it. It is Dusty Ershim in California. Very rarely am I in California during the time the trail is open. We are usually out in California in the winter and spring time.

Then if our son is settled in, we may travel to Thailand and visit our son. I am sure there will be some camping and wheeling in Michigan for a week or a weekend her and there.

So sound off what's the plan Stan? Got to have a plan.
It's a priority for me to run Dusy-Ershim in September.

Hoping to hit the first BOH in Washington opening here in June! I’m not far away from there. I did it a couple years ago in my 2018 grand Cherokee with a bunch of other WK2s. Also plan to hit up tillamook again.

I want to run Dusty Ershim too. I just never find myself in the area when it is open. I have passed through the area at least 4 times while it is closed. It is a 5000 mile trip to just run out and do the trail.

That's a trek for sure. The trail is only open a few months and September is usually the best month from my understanding.

We’re moving from Ga to Tx this summer. Not sure there are going to be many trips, but I’ll be going to Windrock in a couple weeks. Depending on how things go I’m hoping for Moab later this year. If not next year for sure

This weekend Taking a really long road trip 60 miles up the road to get the newest BOH trail in the area - Telegraph Line. Then I Have a family wedding in Sept in Austin. Contemplating driving back (only 14.5 hrs) for it so I can maybe hit the trails at Palo Duro and get the BOH from Hidden Falls.
Also planning for EJS next year.

Our October Moab trip was pretty close to being our first challenging off road trip. We went into the west side of Arches (no line or reservations), and did White Rim at Canyonlands. When I started voicing concerns about that trail the ranger smiled and said don’t worry; you will have a lot of fun. We also included a couple days on the Cathedral Valley loop at Capital Reef NP. If you are interested you can likely still get August camping reservations for White Rim because it will likely be hot (Utah ‘hot' is about 10 degrees higher than Ohio ‘hot.’)

In our first year we seem to be able to get out every couple months. Since I’m getting close to that I am trying to put together a week trip bopping around Lyon County, Nevada - starting around Yerington, NV (Walker River), hitting a few old mines and ghost towns, coming out at Bodie.

Just found this thread and glad I did. Thank you @wibornz for creating this thread. In March my daughter and I went to Hot Springs Jeep Jamboree. We had a blast together, and loved the park. Badge of Honor temporarily reinstated all four BOH trails there at Hot Springs Offroad Park, and obtained all four of them.

In October I am attending the Moab Jeep Jamboree and hope to gather a few more BOH. I'd like to take a trip in the Winter down to Big Bend National Park to camp and collect the BOH down there. Noticed a couple of people mentioned doing Big Bend National park this year. Wondering if anyone would want to plan a Winter trip.

Here are few pics of trip in Hot Springs
